Player Spotlight: C Adam North (SM South, 2016)

Adam North (SM South, 2016) is a 6-foot 171-pound right-handed hitting catcher.  He recently attended the Class of 2016 in Emporia on Aug. 5.

North rans a 7.52 60 and had an 83 mph exit velo.  At the plate, North sits in back leg to load, slightly open, and uses a short stride.  He has a level path, gap-to-gap approach, and made consistent solid contact during batting practice.  In game action, North singled to left field.

Defensively, North has 2.00 to 2.13 pop times, which was on of best pop times on the day.  He posted a 74 mph positional velo, with a quick release, and clean exchange. On the infield, he had 80 mph throws, with fluid footwork, quick catch and release, and over-the-top release.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example:  high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)?

North: I am looking for a college with strong academics and a baseball program with a history of helpinp players reach their full potential.

PBR:  How did you do your junior year?  What were your high school statistics?  How did your team do?  Name some players that will play a key role for your team in 2016.

North:  I had a successful junior year on and off the field.  I started every game for the Shawnee Mission South Raiders behind the plate and hit  .311 with an OBP of .436 and 12 RBI.  I threw out 40% of runners.  Shawnee Mission South ended the regular season with a record of 7-13, however, we made it to the district championship where we lost to Shawnee Mission Northwest.  Some players that will play a key role in South's upcoming season include Sr. Alex Renfrew, Sr. Matt Cashman, Jr. Isaac Soars and Jr. Matthew Peck.

PBR: What are your goals for your senior season?

North: My goals for my senior season include being named to the All State team and taking Shawnee Mission South baseball back to State for the first time since 2009.

PBR: What travel team do you play for?  Are you playing fall ball with a team?

North: I play for the 18u KC Bullets coached by Dale Reed.  I am playing fall ball with the KC Bullets.

PBR:  Do you play any other sports?

North: No.

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

North: ACT:  22, GPA:  3.5
