Fall Kickoff Showcase Tournament: Day One Review

The PBR Fall Kickoff Showcase Tournament began yesterday with four teams playing a total of four games on the day.  Those teams will complete their tournament action this morning with four additional teams beginning tournament play in the afternoon.

Following is a brief look at highlights of game action from day one and those prospects that shined for their respective clubs. Follow @pbrpennsylvania on Twitter for live updates of all tournament action beginning with today's first pitch at 9:00 AM.

Blue Chips 7 vs. Keystone State Bombers 3

The Blue Chips broke open a tight 4-3 game with three runs in the 7th. 2018 OF Derek McManus (North Hartford) led the offense with a 2-for-3 day at the plate that included a double.  2018 RHP Will Glock (Loyola Blakesfield), a recent Maryland commit, worked three strong innings topping at 87 mph.  2018 C/1B Luke Weigel (Lampeter-Strasburg) went 1-3 with a double to lead the Bombers offense. 2019 LHP Aiden Bracken (Garden Spot) worked six innings for the Bombers topping at 83 mph.

Bucks County Generals 16U 10 vs. Team PBR White 5 

The Generals broke the game open with an eight run 6th inning.  Carter Heller tossed three solid innings on the mound and went 3-for-4 with two runs scored at the plate.  2021 RHP Nick Bitsko, a Virginia recruit, was impressive in his one inning of work sittin 86-88 with command of a hard biting curveball at 76 mph.  Uncommitted, switch-hitting 2018 catcher Drayven Kowalski (Steinert, NJ) led the PBR White offense with a hit from both sides of the plate including turning around an 88 mph fastball while hitting left-handed for a 7th inning triple.  PBR Future Games participant, 2019 RHP Chic DeGaetano sat 86-88 with six strikeouts in his three innings of work for PBR White.

Blue Chips 5 vs. Bucks County Generals 16U 2

The Blue Chips picked up their second win of the day thanks thanks in part to a 2-for-3 performance at the plate from Will Glock.  2018 RHP Ryan Rudrow (Cumberland Valley) worked 5.2 solid innings keeping Generals hitters off balance for the win. 2020 3B/RHP Colby Chan (North Penn) led the Generals offense with a 2-for-3 performance that included a double.

Keystone State Bombers 6 vs. Team PBR White 5

The final game of the day was delayed an hour due to a thunderstorm.  All the scoring took place over the course of the first three innings with 2019 RHP Connor Blantz (Lampeter-Strasburg) and 2018 LHP Brandon Schaeffer (Schuylkill Haven) quieting offenses over the middle innings.  Blantz topped at 84 mph and utilized a 12/6 curveball at 72 mph effectively during his time on the bump for the Bombers. Schaeffer sat 82-84 for Team PBR White while registering five strikeouts, many of which came on an effective 77 mph slider.  2019 RHP James Petrik tossed the first four innings for PBR sitting 82-84 with a 72 mph curveball.
