Missouri Class of 2026 Rankings: Initial Release

By: Kevin Moulder & Diego Solares
PBR Missouri Staff

For the first time, the PBR Missouri staff is unveiling player rankings for the 2026 class. Our rankings are an integral part of what we do at Prep Baseball Report and we gather information from across the state to slot these players into the most accurate order possible.

Missouri’s current freshman class is shaping up to be yet another strong group, with eight players nestled inside our top-15 having already committed to their respective Power 5 schools. There’s an abundance of talented players scattered across the ‘Show Me’ state, and the top of this board will be represented well on a national level, too.

Read below to learn more about the first release of our 2026 rankings.

THE TOP 10

+ Holding the top spot on our first release of this class rankings, RHP Cooper Shrum (Belton, 2026; Tennessee) has a chance to be the next special pitching prospect to come out of Missouri. At a highly projectable 6-foot-4, 165-pounds, Shrum generates easy mid-to-high-80s velocity from a clean, low-effort operation on the mound. It’s impossible not to dream on the physical projection he brings to the baseball field and what his ultimate ceiling is as a result. Shrum duals as an intriguing position player as well, swinging a loose, easy left-handed bat that’ll certainly catch your attention. The Tennessee commit has the makings of a prospect that could be towards the top of this board for the entirety of his high school career.

+ INF/C Nolan Sissom (Fort Zumwalt West, 2026; Mizzou) debuts at second on these rankings. Sissom is a name we’ve increasingly become familiar with over the last year or so, and he was one of several standout prospects on Team Missouri’s Junior Future Games squad that made a deep run into the tournament's playoffs. Sissom swings a fast bat from the left side, peppering line drives back up the middle with consistency and profiling as a top-of-the-order type down the road. He’s a quality defender behind the plate with a loose, clean arm from the chute that can also pick it on the infield as well. Sissom will look to make an impact early on for a Fort Zumwalt West team that’s coming off a highly successful season.

Nolan Sissom

+ Another highly projectable right-handed pitching prospect finds themselves inside this top-10, slotted at No. 3 overall: RHP Dylan Curtis (Francis Howell, 2026). Curtis made the trip down to LakePoint with Team Missouri’s Junior Future Games squad and threw well on two separate occasions, pitching up to 84 mph from a clean arm action. He stands at 6-foot-3, 140-pounds with all sorts of physical maturity left to come. Besides his advanced fastball velocity, Curtis really knows how to pitch and he’s capable of working the zone with his entire arsenal. With a three-pitch mix, advanced feel to pitch, and plenty to dream on physically, expect Curtis to keep trending in the right direction as he gets older.

Dylan Curtis

+ OF/RHP Rocco Marriott (Platte County, 2026) checks in at fourth overall after thoroughly impressing our staff this year. Marriott burst onto the scene at Creekside, where the 6-foot-3, 185-pound right-hander bumped his fastball up to 86 mph with power sink at times and more velocity to come down the road. He showed that same arm strength at the PBR Junior Future Games, turning in a quality outing early on in the event. Marriott’s strength translates to the plate and we’ve seen him generate some deep pull-side contact in gameplay settings. He’s also a high level athlete, running as fast as a 7.06 60-yard dash with a 1.65 10-yard split and dueling as a quarterback at Platte County. Marriott figures to be a high level dual sport prospect and has one of the highest ceilings in the entire class.

Rocco Marriott

+ INF Brendan Pyle (Fort Zumwalt East, 2026; Mizzou) has one of the highest floors in this entire class and has consistently performed each time we’ve seen him. Pencil Pyle’s name atop any lineup he hits in for the next handful of years, as the 5-foot-10, 165-pound freshman repeats one of the cleanest right-handed swings in the state, comfortably barreling line drives to all fields. Pyle’s glove should stick on the infield moving forward with rhythmic feet and clean, sure-handed actions to pair. He’s certainly capable of helping a Fort Zumwalt East club that’s coming off a 5A state playoff berth make a trip back to Ozark in the coming years.

Brendan Pyle

+ OF Caden Throneberry (Marquette, 2026; Mizzou) is another high follow prospect to note in this class and makes his debut at sixth overall on our board. A left/left athlete that’s also a quarterback at Marquette, Throneberry stands at an upside 6-foot-1, 170-pounds with lean strength and plenty room to add more. We saw him at Creekside this summer and were impressed, particularly on the offensive side. Throneberry swings a fast left-handed bat with twitch that stays in the zone and flashed pull-side power at the Midwest Premier Super 14. Marquette is another team that’s coming off a state playoff berth and adding the talented Throneberry should help reinforce their team in 2023.

Caden Throneberry

+ LHP Johnny Carver (Raymore-Peculiar, 2026; Arkansas) is the highest ranked left-handed arm in this release, slotting at seventh overall. The recent Razorbacks’ commit heavily intrigued our scouts at Creekside, showcasing a clean, fluid operation on the hill. Carver’s fastball ran up to 82 mph in our looks, comfortably pitching in the upper-70s while working the corners with ease. There’s clearly more velocity to come with Carver in the future and that should only enhance the effectiveness of his upper-60s sweeping slider. Carver adds another quality left-handed arm to a Ray-Pec staff that oozes them, and he should be amongst the top southpaws in this class moving forward.

Johnny Carver

+ INF GT Taylor (Christian Brothers College, 2026) is another Mizzou commit inside the top 10, and he slots right into the eighth spot on this list. Taylor oozes physical projection, as he’s a lean-limbed, lanky athlete that’s going to add quality strength across his high school career. He was a performer at the PBR Open this summer at LakePoint, swinging an extremely loose right-handed bat with all sorts of upside.

+ INF Drew Messey (Westminster Christian Academy, 2026; Louisville) occupies the ninth spot on these rankings. We saw Messey for the first time at the St. Louis Open this summer, where the 5-foot-11, 150-pound middle infielder showed out as one of the top prospects in attendance. There’s plenty to like with Messey’s left-handed swing - he stays connected through the zone with a long barrel to contact and projects to hit for power as he adds mass over the next few years. Messey’s sure-handed on the infield with a loose athletic arm to pair.

Drew Messey

+ Rounding out the top 10 is INF Anden Hyde (Lutheran St. Charles, 2026). The type of contact that Hyde is able to make at his age is rather unheard of, as we’ve seen the 6-foot, 195-pound freshman reach the upper-90s exit velocity mark at three different events this year. He recently recorded a peak exit velocity of 99 mph at the Recruits Scout Day, launching his furthest ball an estimated distance of 380+ ft on that same night, too. Hyde’s strength translates to the mound as well, where we’ve seen him pump his fastball up to 83 mph in a ‘pen. You’re not going to find many bats across the Midwest in the 2026 class who are able to hit the ball as hard as Hyde is right now.
