Player Spotlight: SS Kodee Martin (Platte County, 2016)

Kodee Martin (Platte County, 2016) is a 5-10 160-pound right-handed hitting shortstop and second baseman. 

Martin has an exit velocity of 84 mph and runs a 6.94 60.  At the plate, Martin starts in a balanced position and has a controlled leg kick for stride. He stays square with is stride, uses middle of the field and has a level path to finish. 

Defensively, has a 78 mph positional velo. Martin has soft hands, fluid footwork, and a clean exchange in the field.  He has a long loose arm swing and makes accurate throws.

Martin is starting is senior year of basketball and preparing to make a run in the Class 5 state playoffs in baseball this spring.  Here is a closer look inside the recruitment of Kodee Martin.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Martin: All I am looking for in a school is a good physical therapy program because that is the degree I want.

PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do? Name some players that will play a key role for Platte County in 2016.

Martin: My junior year went well, I don't have the fielding statistics but I batted .320. My team as a whole started off slow with a 2 and 8 start to the season. After that 2 and 8 run we had we went on the win go 15 and 2 to end the season. Some players that will have a key role on our team this year will be Senior outfielder Jerod Thomas, Junior pitcher and second baseman Jared Wilson, Junior catcher and outfielder Justin Mitchell, and Junior outfielder Colton Horn.

PBR: What are you goals for your senior season?

Martin: My goals for this season is to be a positive influence and a team leader to everyone on my baseball team and to go out and play the game harder than everyone else and to make to the state playoffs.

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Martin: I played for the Nebraska Sluggers in the summer and I played on the Building Champions in the fall.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Martin: I also play basketball

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

Martin: I have a 21 ACT and a 3.8 GPA
