Mizuno Player & Pitcher of the Week: Week 8

Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Thanks to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season.

Let's take a look at the Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 8 (April 3-8).

MIZUNO PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Joseph Parker SS / 2B / Purvis , MS / 2025

Rankings StateRank: 3 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 125 / POS: 36

Parker had an outstanding week both at the plate and on the mound. The Mississippi State commit went 6 for 9 with 2 doubles, 2 home runs, 6 runs scored, and 4 runs batted in. For good measure, Parker, the #3 ranked player in the 2025 class, added a no hitter over Forest County in a district matchup.

Konnor Griffin OF / RHP / Jackson Prep, MS / 2024

Rankings StateRank: 1 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 4 / POS: 2

Griffin had a stellar outing last week in a district match up with the #12 ranked Hartfield Academy. The LSU commit threw a 1 hit complete game shutout with 11 strikeouts. Griffin, the #1 ranked player in the 2024 class, is now 4-1 with a 1.64 ERA with 43 punch outs in just 25 innings for the Patriots.
