Miralia and King Hook Up in a Battle of Top 2020 Arms

Carmel Christian 1          Providence Day 5

Game Recap:
A matchup of two of the top 2020 arms in North Carolina did not disappoint on Tuesday afternoon at Providence Day School. The home standing Chargers started Duke commit, LHP John Miralia. Carmel Christian threw their ace, RHP Cooper King.

Providence Day pounced first with a solo home run off Miralia's bat, helping his own cause in the 2nd. Consecutive doubles from Colin Ravin and Owen Tappy pushed the lead to 2-0 in the 3rd.

Miralia would earn the win, working 4 innings and allowing 2 hits and 1 walk, while striking out 9. His fastball had life and action, and was paired with a downer breaking ball he was able to land to his arm side. While Miralia only worked ahead of 6 of the 16 hitters he faced, he did throw 60% of his 63 pitches for strikes.

King worked through some tough luck with several balls falling for hits that seemed to hang up in the air for a while. His demeanor did not waiver and he continued to attack the strike zone. King struck out 11 over 5 innings, walking 2 and surrendering 8 hits and 4 runs, all earned on the score sheet.

The Chargers of Providence Day would add add runs in the 5th and 6th to put the game away and earn the 5-1 victory over the Cougars.
