NC: Wild Affair as Green Hope Visits Athens Drive

Green Hope visited Athens Drive on Monday in a non-conference matchup.  Two sophomore pitchers started for each team and ran into early trouble. 

Jack Snipes was staked to a 6-1 lead after 1 for Athens Drive.  Green Hope battled back, scoring 7 runs in the 2nd and getting into the Jaguar bullpen.  Athens was already in the Falcons bullpen when their first 7 hitters reached base.  

With Green Hope leading 8-6, Jake Buczek kept Athens Drive in the game with 3 solid innnigs of work, striking out 4, giving up 2 earned runs.  The Falcons built a 12-7 lead after 4, the score that would be the final.  

Wyatt Schaffer entered the game in the 1st and worked 6 innings, only allowing 1 run while striking out 6 for Green Hope.  Green Hope was leading 8-6 after two innings. 

Green Hope plated their 12 runs on 10 hits, 1 for extra bases, and 11 walks.  With the win the Falcons move to 6-2 on the year. They will look to build on their 1-2 conference record with a conference series with #13 Middle Creek on Tuesday and Friday.  Athens drive drops to 4-6 overall.  The Jaguars will open conference play with Sanderson on Tuesday and Friday this week.
