On Wednesday June 1st PBR of North Carolina hosted trials for Team Carolina at DPC in Clayton, NC. The Team Carolina Trials leads to identifying prospects for some of the summer’s biggest invite only events like NC/SC Border Battle, PBR Southeast Senior Games, Top Prospect Games, and the PBR Future Games. The event featured players from the 2023-2027 grad classes.

The Day began with players running a laser timed 60 along with having jumping metrics recorded by Swift Technology. Position Players then took batting practice on the field with Trackman recording ball flight data. After BP, catchers, infielders and outfielders went through a defensive evaluation. The day concluded with pitchers throwing a controlled bullpen with Trackman collecting ball flight data.

Below we begin our breakdown of the players in attendance looking at the top performers in different categories.  Look for more statistics and information to follow in the coming days.

Quick Hitters

Bryson Pope, RHP, Western Harnett HS, 2025
Very young, standing 5-foot-7, 120 pounds.  Lots of maturation ahead.  Short arm action works with good arm speed through a high-3/4 slot.  Athletic arm positioned to make gains as the body gains strength.  Fastball peaked at 78 with solid ride and some run.  Good feel for the glove side.

Landon Misnick, RHP, Wake Forest HS, 2025
Average build at 5-foot-9, 145 pounds.  Arm has whip through an over-the-top slot.  Fastball ranged 75-78, spinning up to 2237.  Advanced ride through the zone that could create swing and miss as the velocity grows.  Good feel for the change-up with heavy run out of the hand.

Walker McDuffie, RHP, Lee County HS, 2024
Very intruiging slot and attack pattern.  Slider is different.   Pounded the zone with ease and a two pitch mix that will create issues for hitters recognizing pitches before they begin to dart.  Average 5-foot-10, 148 pound frame.  High-3/4 slot with an athletic arm stroke.  Slotting can drop a bit at times creating more horizontal movement.  Heavy fastball ranged 85-87 with close to 15 inches of run out of the hand.  Slider spinning up to 2694rpm with hard, darting action away from right handed hitters.  Also flashed a solid change-up that he can use as a 3rd pitch.

Riley Treadaway, RHP, DH Conley HS, 2024
Strength present at 5-foot-10, 165 pounds.  Medium arm action to an over-the-top slot.  Firm fastball with solid ride peaking at 88, 2079rpm.  Good feel for the zone.  Slider has length with late action across the zone at 72-73.

Landon Alphin, RHP, Cape Fear Christian, 2025
Lanky, 6-foot-4, 180 pounds.  Loose hips and a delivery that has some movement as he continues to grow and find his center.  Long arm swing, turning the ball slightly early as he works through an over-the-top release.  Average to above arm speed.  Fastball ranged 78-79.  Solid feel for change-up at 68-70 with heavy run out of the hand.

Colby Vanhook, RHP, Hickory Grove Christian, 2024
Physical presence with broad shoulders and strength present in the lower half at 6-foot-1, 200 pounds.  Medium arm swing to an over-the-top slot.  Average to above arm speed.  Arm strength present.  Fastball has ride at 85-87, 2316rpm.  Showed feel for the zone.  Slider played ahead of the curveball but both could attack hitters.  Slider at 78-79 with short, late depth.

Will Hicks, RHP, Cleveland HS, 2025
Average frame at 5-foot-10, 170 pounds.  Athletic delivery and arm.  Short arm action and over-the-top slot.  Strike thrower with good feel for fastball and curveball.  Fastball at 83-84, good ride through the zone.  Big action on the breaking ball, beginning out of the hand with a slight hump, spinning up to 2668rpm.
