State Games of NC Notebook: Game Day 2

Brandon Hall
North Carolina Director of Scouting

The Powerade State Games of North Carolina features some of the best players from across the state playing at one venue for a week.  The state is split into 8 regions and each region has high school coaches from their region select a 20 man roster. On Wednesday, each team went through a full pro-style workout at Grimsley HS.  Thursday - Sunday, at UNC Greensboro, the regions will play, working their way through two 4 team brackets to ultimately decide a gold medal winner.

PBR will be on hand throughout the State Games, reporting on games, players and updating statistics for the players.

Day 3: Game Day 2

Region 4 3 Region 7 0

Landen Harris (Gray’s Creek HS, RHP, 2019) worked 4 innings, striking out 4 and only surrendering 1 hit in Region 4’s victory over Region 7.  Clemson commit Bryson Hammer (LHP, Alexander Central HS, 2020) started for Region 7, working up to 88.  Region 4 took advantage of 6 walks to plate their runs. Jake Ransom (1B, Richmond Cty HS, 2019) was very patient at the plate, working three good at-bats and reaching base twice.  Region 7’s Carter Sheppard (Lake Norman HS, RHP, 2019) kept the game close working 3 masterful innings sitting 86-89 and touching 90 once.  The change created swing and miss at 79-81.
