Christ School – 3             Charlotte Christian – 4

Charlotte Christian hosted Christ School from Asheville in the semi finals of the NCISAA 4A baseball playoffs on Tuesday night in Charlotte. The Knights victory came in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the 7th.  Charlotte Christian will face Wesleyan Christian beginning this Friday in a best of 3 series to be played on Friday and Saturday at Wesleyan Christian.

Each school started a senior with JT Killen going for Charlotte Christian and Chad Treadway getting the ball for Christ School.

Christ School would strike first, using a couple of walks and a SAC fly from Jack Sutton to take a 1-0 lead after 1.  The Knights answered with 3 runs, all unearned in the 3rd.  Calvert Clark, Brett Adams, and Matthew Siverling accounted for the RBI’s and the 3-1 lead after 3 innings of play.

Killen settled in and held the Greenies in check through the 4th inning.  In the 5th the visitors opened the frame with singles from Mac Gortney and Parker Johnson.  A SAC bunt moved each runner up.  With two outs, Treadway would help his own cause with a 2 RBI single off Charlotte Christian relief arm Trey Donathan, tying the game at 3 all.

In the bottom of the 7th, Charlotte Christian SS, JD Suarez led off with an infield single. JT Killen then hit a high bouncer hard down the 1B line, clearing the infield.  Suarez turned for 3B and the Christ School right fielder came up wildly throwing to 3B.  The throw kicked away, allowing Suarez to score the winning run from 1B.
