West Rowan Outlasts South Iredell in 8

Game Recap:
South Iredell Vikings play host to conference opponent West Rowan Falcons. A back and forth game that would need an extra frame to eventually decide a winner.

Payne Stolsworth got the scoring started for the Falcons with a home run to deep left centerin the top of the 2^nd inning. The Vikings immediately responded in the bottom of the 2nd with Josh Sherill scoring on a wild pitch to knot things at 1.

The Falcons tack on two more runs in the top of the 3rd retaking the lead.  The inning opened with a single from Carsen Bailey, followed by a walk and a single from Daniel Sell.  With the bases loaded South Iredell starter Josh Sherrill got a strikeout working to control some damage.  With Steven Smith at the plate, Sherill would balk in one run and allow a sacrifice fly from Smith to push the lead to 3-1.

The Vikings pull within one run with a solo homerun by Junior Jack Fortin in the 4^th.  The Vikings worked to take the lead in the bottom of the 5^th, loading the bases where Fortin cleared them with a double.    Gage Tomlin would follow withg a RBI double, scoring Fortin and moving South Iredell to a 6-3 lead.

West Rowan answered in the 6^th to tie the game.  Cameron Graham had a sacrifice fly in the inning.  Moving to the 8^th, West Rowan would strike again.  Using 3 walks to start the inning, loading the bases, Jake Perez hit what appeared to be a sacrifice fly to right but Sherill, now in right field, cut down Lane Adkins trying to score.  With two outs and runners on 1^st and 2^nd, Steven Smith singled to center scoring Michael Molenda, moving West Rowan up 7-6. 

In the bottom half, Payne Stolsworth worked a 1-2-3 inning, closing the door and earning the win.
