South Iredell -- 0              Cox Mill -- 2

Game Recap:
Senior RHP Zach Zedalis was dominate at times in controlling the South Iredell lineup, leading Cox Mill to a shutout win in the opening round of the NCHSAA 3A state playoffs. The No. 6 seed in the west, Cox Mill will host East Rowan later this week in round two.

Zedalis worked all 7 innings, giving up just 2 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 13. He threw 102 pitches, 65 for strikes. South Iredell never really threatened with a maximum of 4 hitters per innings. Their best chance came in the 5th with a runner stealing 2B with two outs. This would be the only baserunner to reach scoring position off Zedalis on the night.

Offensively, the Chargers did all of their work in the 2nd inning. With 2 outs, Cam Lowke singled on a soft liner to left field. Cole Fuller followed by reaching on error, a pop up just behind short, that scored Lowke from 2B, where he had stolen the base. Two hitters later Nick Pratico squared up the first ball of the inning, singling to left, scoring Fuller.

Junior lefty Jack Fortin worked to keep South Iredell in the game in his four innings. He surrendered the two runs and struckout 5. Josh Sherrill relieved Fortin, and worked two scoreless innings. Both of South Iredell's hits were recorded by Junior left handed hitter David Brannen.

Cox Mill was led at the plate by three hitters with 2 hits apiece. Chandler Riley, Lowke, and Fuller each had multiple hits. Lowke and Fuller also scored the two runs, with Fuller having one of the RBIs.
