Unsigned Senior Infielders-Northern Nevada

Buddy Gouldsmith
Nevada Scouting Director

With only three institutions in the state playing baseball at the college level, Northern Nevada remains a fairly untapped resource for next level talent. Cooler winter temperatures and a multitude of multi-sport athletes has produced many players that mature later in their high school careers and well into college. These players have all experienced a wealth of in game success. This group provides a wide range of athleticism and versatility accompanied by present tools that will be assets to a college baseball program.

Scott Cameron, SS, Reed, (2019)

Lean, 6-foot, 160, Cameron has a sleek and slender athletic build. Although he maintains solid infield actions, his arm and speed may lend more to CF. He displayed twitchy quickness out of the box on a single to LCF and made the first base turn efficiently. He showed a flat swing with good barrel release. The swing is short out front which plays to his quickness. His overall athleticism impressed and might be a find for someone looking to play the long game.

Cade Grogan, 2B, Reno, (2019)

Developing, 5-foot-10, 160. Cade has an athletic build with wider, square shoulders that taper to a small waist.  His youthful appearance make growth a certainty.  He is a sure handed second baseman with a feel for turning the double play. His hands provide a quick exchange to accommodate developing arm strength. Cade utilizes an opposite field approach that makes him a good bat handler.  He is a heady player that makes the most out of his skill set. He clearly understands who he is and what he is, creating a nice addition to the bottom of a potent lineup or with the ceiling of two hole type guy.

Delsin Roberts, SS, Carson, (2019)

Developed, 5-foot-10, 170, middle infielder played with energy. He displayed solid infield actions with a serviceable arm.  Roberts arm will play up as he finds a workable rhythm in footwork to assist. He was an aggressive base runner with an attempted hustle double and his ball in the dirt reads.  He showed a compact swing with an opposite field approach, making consistent contact. His overall efficiency will be improved with enhanced routes to the ball and decision making.

Reece Scolari, SS, Galena, (2019)

Youthful, 5-foot-9, 140. Reece has a lean and narrow frame suited to someone with great gains ahead. He relies heavily on his quickness and footwork defensively to assist arm strength. He has a dependable glove and overall skill set that presently lends better to second base. He hits in the leadoff spot employing a simple, flat, swing and contact type approach to allow him to get to his speed out of the batter’s box. He managed solid jumps on stolen bases and made efficient turns rounding the bases.
