The Top 10 matchup was set with a deep Faith Lutheran and their #1 on the mound in 2022 RHP and Oregon Signee, Leo Uelmen, going against a hungry Coronado group that has been off to slower start than anticipated, but came out with some fire in yesterday's contest. The top of the first got started off with a sharp single to right field by Nevada's #2 ranked 2023 prospect and San Diego State commit, Zane Kelly, who scored on an RBI single by Uncommitted 1B, Miller Durham, putting the Crusaders up 1-0, early. The Cougars answered back and then some, putting up a 3 spot in the bottom have, stringing together a number of quality at-bats, putting continuous pressure on both Uelmen and his defensive by working deep count and putting the ball in play, forcing them to make play after play. After a quiet second inning, Coronado exploded for 9 runs in the 3rd inning with an RBI triple for 2022 Redlands Recruit, Kethan Efron, a handful of walks and wild pitches, ending with another Efron RBI on a sac fly to centerfield, racking up his fourth RBI of the game. Meanwhile, 2022 RHP, Noah Wasano, settled into his game after the first inning, working with intent and missing barrels to keep his defense engaged and get them back in the dugout. Salt Lake CC recruit, Dallin Smith, and Seattle U signee, Sebastian Lopez, both tacked on a high a pair of RBI"s each to help lead the Cougars seal the 16-1 victory in the bottom of the 4th, enforcing the 15 runs after 3 innings rule to get them back on track.
