Idaho Top Uncommitted Spotlight: CINF Cooper Thompson

The 2023 summer season is now in full swing with player across the State taking the field with their local teams or travel teams. Our staff has already got a look at hundreds of player from within the State with five showcases so far with another on-deck in the fall with the Northern Idaho Open (Sept. 9).

With all of the players we've seen so far in 2023, we will begin to break down some of the top uncommitted talent from our events in the first half the year.

We continue our uncommitted spotlight series below with a look at 2025 CINF Cooper Thompson of Twin Falls High School who was a Future Gamer last summer and has impressed with his strength at the dish over the past year.

Body: 6-3, 190-pounds.
Hits: RHH. Tall, slightly opened set up. Subtle hand rhythm timing. Physical presence in the box. Toe tap load. Compact stoke with some weight transfer to front side. Level path through the zone. Power to come as he fills out his frame.
Power: 79 max exit velocity, averaged 64.5 MPH. 202' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-76 mph.
Defense: Moves exceptionally well for his size. Could hold down either corner IF spot. Feet work with fluidity through fielding process. Comfort ranging laterally with feel for backhand play. Athletic around the bag at 1B. Presents quality target. Receives well.
Run: 7.25 runner in the 60.

Body: 6-foot-3 , 190-pounds. Physical, proportionate strength. Country Strong type.
Hit: RHH. Tall, slightly closed set up. Simple weight shift back to load. Hands work well to stay inside the ball. Barrel enters the zone early. Level throuhgout with some lift through extension. Consistent, loud contact. Racked up a pair of hits during the Live Game Play, including a stand up double. Much more power to come.
Power: Max TrackMan Exit Velocity - 90.1, Avg. TrackMan Exit Velocity -84.3 mph. 
Arm: RH. INF - 78 mph. 
Defense: Corner IF type. Advanced actions for his age and size. Feet work exceptionally well to get him in position. Glove works with excellent presentation. Athletic around the bag at 1B.
Run: 7.34 runner in the 60.
