Inside the Northeast Procase: 2022 OF/RHP Matthew Canizares (Monsignor McClancy/Houston commit)

Canizares is no stranger to the PBR system having attended half a dozen events over the previous two years. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound 6.62 runner is one of the more athletic prospects in the 2022 class ranking No. 20 and is a current Houston commit. 

At the plate he has a balanced approach, wide base, loose hands. On the pitch he uses a small stride for timing, barrel path is short and direct and slightly uphill, hands are strong evidenced by his 97 mph exit. He shows the ability to use all fields but shows more power to his pull side. Defensively he moves well and stays behind the ball, active with lower half, above average arm-strength from the OF. 

From the bump he uses tempo to his delivery, deep back swing, high 3/4 slot with a FB that peaked 87 mph last summer. We are very excited to see him at this years Northeast Procase.
