The staff at PBR-New York is rolling out a new feature that highlights not only a player from the Empire State but compares them with an out-of-state player with similar abilities, features and projections.
Today we take a look at a pair of MIF/RHP in the Class of 2022 in Daniel Cohen of South Glens Falls (NY) and Ashton Nowak of Gabriel Richard HS (MI).
TALE OF THE TAPE
Physical Attributes
Both players feature similar lean, athletic builds with with Cohen at 6-foot-1 160 pounds and Nowak at 6-foot-0 155 pounds. Both players feature long, almost identical lower halves and will be able to add an easy 20 pounds to their frames over the next few years and yet stay proportional.
Actions
Both feature whippy actions through the zone with Cohen slightly shorter to contact. Both players stay in the zone for an extended period of time. Defensively they featured active footwork and showed range through the middle with Nowak's arm holding well from the left side. Both should be able to stay up the middle long term. On the mound both use a moderate, infield like arm path with Cohen being slightly more square to the plate than Nowak who uses a coil. Cohen's CB is more 12-to-6 with depth while Nowak features a late action slider. Solid feel for their secondary offerings.

Suggestion Box
"Both players will only get stronger as they hit they weight room over the next few years. Nowak's footspeed is adequate and may improve to open up corner OF possibilities; Cohen will need to continue to work in this direction or possibly slide into a 3B role. Nowak, once consistent with his timing will be even more explosive through his lower half. On the mound both show repeatable actions with an ease to their arm action that will allow for additional velocity gains; feel for their secondary stuff is solid at this point and continued development of their 3rd pitch will be huge. Tremendous upside for both players who present plenty of current skills that will only feed their long term development."
