On Deck Preview: Preseason All-State - CNY

As we kick off our Preseason All-State tour this weekend, we highlight some returning players that we are excited to see the results from an off season of training.

Tyler Blake LHP / 1B / Cortland , NY / 2022Rankings StateRank: 16 / POS: 4
The lanky athletic frame is projectable at 6-foot-3, 170 pounds. Offensively- the left handed hitter works from an open stance. Quick direct path to the baseball. Displayed a consistent line drive swing by spraying the ball all over the field. Defensively- the infielder worked out at first base. Blake has low effort actions and throws from a high mid ¾ arm slot. Pitching- the left handed pitcher displayed a repeatable delivery and a live projectable arm. Blake improved from his last performance in the summer. FB peaked at 82 MPH from 78 MPH. FB has late arm side run and lives down in the zone. CB has a sharp late break and the CH is still developing. Blake has a lot of upside and is a must follow. |

AJ Brotz SS / OF / Bath Haverling, NY / 2022Rankings StateRank: 88 / POS: 16
The 2022 infielder was impressive at the 2019 Fall Top Prospect Games. At the plate, Brotz stands in the box with an open stance. The right handed hitter sprayed the ball all over the field during batting practice. Defensively, Brotz displayed active footwork in the infield. Takes his time to gather himself when making throws across the infield. Brotz is an athletic kid with fast twitch actions. Also ran a 6.91 in the 60 yard dash. |

Jacob DePalma 3B / RHP / West Genesee, NY / 2022Rankings StateRank: 50 / POS: 5
Offensively- Stands in the box with feet shoulder width apart. Uses a high leg kick for timing before attacking the baseball. Displayed easy pop, quick to the hitting zone, slight lift at the point of contact. Stays balanced throughout the swing. Exit velocity was 87 MPH. Defensively- Displayed active footwork during the infield portion. Smooth exchange, quick release from a low ¾ arm slot. Top throwing velocity was 78 MPH. Pitching- The right handed pitcher displayed a live easy arm. Drop and drive motion. Works mainly from the left side of the rubber. Smooth hand separation. Showed good command of a FB around the zone, topped at 81 MPH. CB is sharp down in the zone and ranged from 66-68 MPH. |

Derek Schumaker C / 2B / Paul V. Moore, NY / 2021Rankings StateRank: 191 / POS: 27
Offensively- The right handed hitter stands in the box with feet shoulder width apart. Displayed a short compact swing. Gets full extension after the point of contact. Finishes with a two hand follow through. Displayed hard consistent contact to the middle part of the field. Top exit velocity was 86 MPH. Defensively- As a catcher, Receives the ball slightly off center. Has an above average exchange and a quick release from a high ¾ arm slot. Top throwing velocity was 73 MPH. Pop time ranged from a 2.00-2.09 . The 2021 Catcher is a must follow. |

Kenneth Svitak OF / LHP / CW Baker HS Baldwinsville, NY / 2021Rankings StateRank: 124 / POS: 19
Svitak is a physical projectable player who stood out at the 2019 Fall Top Prospect Games. The left handed hitter stands in the box with a slightly open stance. Quick direct path to the baseball. Displayed a slight lift at the point of contact. Displayed hard contact to the middle and pull side of the field. Defensively, as an outfielder, Svitak is aggressive to the baseball. Takes his time to gather himself when throwing the baseball to the plate. The 2021 OF is a must follow. |
