Team Rosters

Team PBR

Snapshot: Team PBR is composed of players from across the state of Ohio.

The pitching staff is highlighted by:

Zach Pittman RHP / 2B / Bryan, OH / 2019

Athletic presence on the mound. Works quick with an efficient delivery. Really fast arm/cean arm. Ball jumps out of hand with fastball sitting 82-84 mph. With that arm speed and clean delivery he’s going to throw as hard as frame suggest. Breaking ball was also impressive, showing sharp action on a near 12/6 plane at 74-77 mph. Stuff wise, the breaking is a legitimate out pitch.

Zayvier Beachy RHP / 1B / Jonathan Alder, OH / 2019

A long and projectable right-handed pitcher that starts from a tall setup. Delivery is fluid with a slow tempo. Actions in his delivery are repeatable. Tall and fall type pitcher. Front foot lands open upon impact. Releases the ball from a ¾ arm slot with a longer action. Fastball shows occasional arm side movement sitting in the low 80s. Curveball comes in on an 11-5 tilt with gradual break. Shows a playable changeup in his repertoire. Tends to slow his body down on the offering.

Brenden Stewart C / RHP / Medina, OH / 2019

Southern Ohio Unsigned SR Games Participant. 5-foot-10, 178-pound. Delivery is athletic and fluid, uses HSI left before working and good direction down the mountain. Fastball works out of a 3/4 slot with slight arm side run at 78 to 80 mph. Offered two different breaking balls, The curveball has near 12 to 6 shape at 60 to 61 mph with gradual break. The slider was the best secondary offering at 66 to 70 mph the pitch has an 11 to 5 shape with sharp late break. Physically strong frame that will hold up behind the plate. Begins with a balance setup. Minimal stride and load, bat path works on a slightly uphill plane generating some loft on the ball. Recorded a exit velocity of 86 mph. Behind the plate, showed good footwork and a quick transfer. Throws reach 78 mph and recorded a 1.95-2.05 pop time. Also ran a 4.70 home to first.

The position players are highlighted by:

Ryan Marr 1B / Cincinnati Elder, OH / 2019

6-foot-4, 190-pound. Right handed hitting first baseman. Displayed some of the best raw power at the Southern Ohio Unsigned Senior Games registering a 97 mph exit velocity. Begins with a wide-based and a minimal load, obvious bat speed working level through the zone.

Kristian Scalf OF / RHP / Wooster, OH / 2019

TPG Participant. One of the more pleasant surprises of the event. Athleticism and twitch show up on both sides of the ball. A 6.7 runner that moves very well in the outfield with more than enough arm for all three spots. At the plate he showed off a very fast bat with a swing that plays to both gaps. A fringy prospect who is wildcard to where he ends up level wise. Whatever the case may be he definitely improved his stock at this event. 60-yard dash: 6.75. Outfield Velocity: 85. Exit Velocity: 86.

Max Fries 1B / 3B / Taylor, OH / 2019

SOPG Participant. Very interesting bat that took a loud BP. A physically built kid with well above average strength and bat speed through the zone. Hands can get tied up at times but barrel has some authority when he gets extended. Drove the ball all over the yard in BP. Run producer type bat. At first base he has an ideal frame with above average athleticism for the spot. Ball skills are more than adequate with more range off the bag than most. Solid defender.

Lane Marshall 1B / LHP / Orrville, OH / 2020

TPG Participant. A lefty swinger that starts in a balanced setup. Hands are fluid and loose prior to launch, generating easy whip through the zone. Path has some natural loft to it, showing above average natural tools for class. Consistently stroked line drive to pull side during BP. Checks all the boxes at first base. Plays off the bag with fluidity and feel. An above average athlete for the spot with more than adequate ball skills.

Aaron Miller C / OF / Glenoak, OH / 2019

Stark/Summit Participant. 6-foot-1, 165 pound catcher showed a strong arm behind the plate throwing with accuracy at 80 mph. Quick, efficient footwork allows Miller to get in a good power position accompanied by a swift transfer leading to a 1.93-2.03 pop time. In the OF, he showed above average arm strength with an 88 mph throwing velocity. Feet moved well getting around the ball and fielding off to his side showing a good glove. Recorded one of the higher exit velos at 91 mph. That power transferred into his live-rounds. Takes an uphill path that makes good contact and generates good energy with his lower half.

Arm action is clean working out of a ¾ slot. Dietrich offered a true three-pitch mix. Fastball works downhill with regular arm side run at 80-83 MPH. Breaking ball has tight 1/7 shape and swing and miss potential at 71-73 MPH. Shows feel for the changeup, at 74-75 MPH the pitch has cutting action.

Michael Deines RHP / 1B / Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, OH / 2019

Triple Crown Royals 17

Snapshot: Team TCR 17 is composed of players from Central Ohio.

The roster is highlighted by:

Lucas Akin RHP / C / New Albany, OH / 2020

COPG Participant. 6-foot-1, 175-pound righty with an athletic build. Very rhythmic delivery using a rocker step to begin the motion that requires regular effort. Lands slightly closed at foot strike which works against the body a bit. Arm action is long through a high ¾ slot. Fastball shows occasional sink at 78-82 mph. Could be a ground ball type arm with continued development of that sinking fastball. Curveball is big breaker with near 12/6 action at 61-62 mph. Change up has fade to the arm side at 63-64 mph. Would expect a velo jump with physical maturity in the near future.

Jarett Barnes SS / RHP / Pickerington North, OH / 2020

Potential two-way prospect, but highest upside may be on the mound. On the bump the right-hander shows an athletic projectable frame. Delivery is explosive with athletic actions. Works quick and has regular effort to his delivery. Arm actions is compact with above average strength for class. Fastball comes out of a high-¾ slot sitting in the low 80s mph. Breaking ball shows present depth and sharpness with more to come. The pitch works on an 11/5 plane, using it to backdoor lefities/freeze righties at 63-66 mph. Shows fastball arm speed on the changeup that displays cut and sink. Tosses the offering with feel at 70-74 mph.

Colin Doyle RHP / 1B / Columbus St Francis DeSales, OH / 2019

Potential two-way prospect. The righty throws from a higher ¾ slot with a clean arm action. He stays closed to release point and drives his momentum hard towards the plate off of his back leg. The fastball has some giddy-up to it causing some late swing and misses. He likes to come back with a curveball that has a 12-6 trajectory. He also mixes in a developing changeup with similar arm speed. A right-handed hitter that starts in a balanced setup. Uses a leg kick to get things going. Hands move back rhythmically prior to launch. A strong kid with impressive bat speed. Ball jumps off his bat. BP was impressive, showing the ability to drive the ball with authority to all fields. Definite power potential. All signs point to a middle of the lineup guy at the next level. At first base he gets off the bag well with sound footwork. Does a nice job creating angles prior to fielding on his double play balls. An above average athlete for the position with solid glove skills. 6-foot-1, 215 pound built frame.

Drew Schaly RHP / SS / Ashland, OH / 2020

A right-hander hitter that starts in a tall, open setup. Goes with a short stride to get back to even. Hands move back during stride, creating balance and separation. Path is level with well above average bat speed. Swing is efficient and he showed solid barrel awareness. A gap to gap guy that should grow into some added pop as he fills out his frame. Does a nice job using the middle of the field. A middle infielder with confident, athletic actions. Hands are soft and glove works well on the move. Arm and athleticism profile him on the left side of the infield. On the mound the right-hander looks athletic with a fluid delivery. Works with an uptempo pace. Mechanically sound and arm works well. Arm moves through a high-¾ slot with developing arm speed. Fastball stays mostly true through the zone with slight run/cut at times. All physical signs point to more velocity to come. Offers both a changeup and breaking ball for his secondary arsenal. Puts good spin on a the breaker that has an 11/5 shape. The offering has big action with sharpness to it. Produced consistent weak contact/swings and misses with the pitch. Maintains fastball arm speed on the changeup that had some fade to it. Both secondary offerings are above average, with the breaking ball looking to be the put away pitch. Really impressed with his advanced pitchability for his class.

Tristen Taylor RHP / LHP / Mount Vernon, OH / 2020

A unique prospect that has the ability to throw with both arms on the mound. From the right side he has an uptempo delivery while working through a high-¾ slot. Arm action is compact with present quickness to his arm. A strike thrower that filled up the zone with three quality offerings. Fastball will stay most true with occasional cut at 78-79 mph. Looks very confident in the 11/5 shaped breaking ball. The pitch has bit with adequate depth at 64-68 mph. Puts regular run and dive on 72-74 mph changeup. Action is heavy and the pitch grader out as one of the better changeups we saw on the day. As a southpaw features an uptempo delivery that requires some effort. Fastball comes out through a slightly lower slot than from the right, sitting 73-75 mph. Spins a sweeping breaking ball with a 2/8 shape and big action at 60-61 mph. Changeup displays heavy arm side action at 69-70 mph. Most impressively, Taylor was able to throw strikes from both sides of the mound.

Triple Crown Royals 16

Snapshot: Team TCR 16 is composed of players from Central Ohio.

The roster is highlighted by:

Andrew Patrick SS / C / Hilliard Darby, OH / 2021

One of the top 25 prospects in his class. A right-handed bat that starts in an athletic stance. Simple, repeatable load that shows fluidity. Long lever type that can really do damage when he gets extended. Feet hitter that squares the ball up often. Much more to come as he fills out very projectable frame. Landed on a few balls in BP. Very solid round. Rangy defender in the infield that plays under control. Ball skills are solid for class. Maintains rhythm well and has fluidity to transfer. Likely slides over to third base at the next level. Two-way prospect. On the mound he has obvious projectability at 6-foot-3, 160-pounds. Easy delivery with a clean arm. Ball comes out well with fastball sitting 78-79 mph. Can easily see that number being higher in the near future. Breaking ball is a quality offering, showing late dive at 68-69 mph. Uses the pitch as a put away offering. Also shows a changeup that is playable at 76-77 mph.

Max Caron C / 3B / Olentangy High School, OH / 2020

Right-hander hitter that starts in a wider setup. Uses an easy leg lift to get things started. Hands stay simple prior to swing decision. Swing is compact with obvious quickness to his bat. Path is mostly level and he gets through contact well. Natural tools are impressive for his age. Gap to gap guy, flashing impressive pull side pop at times. Middle of the lineup type of guy. Behind the plate he starts in a mid crouch. Footwork is quick and he gets rid of the ball in a timely fashion. Catch and throw movements are unique but the ball gets there with timing and accuracy.

Nick Headley RHP / SS / Crooksville, OH / 2019

Very athletic frame with broad shoulders and a high waist. Looks to have room to add strength to his upper body. Works with an uptempo pace on the bump with a delivery that doesn’t require much effort. Shows long arm action with a slight hitch in the back. Arm shows above average speed and whip through the zone. Puts regular run on his fastball that was anywhere from 77-81 mph. Spins a sweeping slider that moves across the plate at 67-68 mph. Breaking ball has a more up to down look at 60-62 mph. Both offerings are above average with the slider being the sharper of the two. Also offers a changeup, near fastball arm speed at 70-71 mph. At the plate he uses a back load during his leg kick timing mechanism. Athleticism shows in swing, displaying burst and strength. Creates angles with upper half allowing him to lift the ball without sacrificing path or natural tools. A gap guy who can really get into it to his pull side. A good athlete with defensive versatility. In the infield he moves light on his feet and changes direction well. Rangy defender that covers a lot of ground. Ball skills are above average for class. Arm is unique but ball comes out well. Looks to be learning the position but with athleticism and infielder background it should be a smooth transition and likely destination.
