With 2022 now in the past, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best high school coverage that can be found anywhere in 2023. Starting in February, we began releasing team previews for squads across the state. Ahead, we will have Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings coming your way.

2022 Record: 8-19
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 5/5
Coach Outlook: "2023 should be a big year for the Purcell Marian Cavaliers. We return (5) starters and (5) pitchers. We were very young last year and sometimes had (6) freshman on the field at the same time. They had to grow up fast in one of the best leagues in the state. The experience they gained will be beneficial this year. We return (9) lettermen, and that experience should help this year. Ethan Ell is a (4) year starter who is a tremendous 2-way player. He’ll bat in the cleanup position and will be our number one starter on the mound. Levi Smiley is one of the best catchers in the city and will lead a young pitching staff. Jayonn Saunders, Zavier Wright and Jayden Egbert all started as freshman and will be leaders both on and off the field. We picked up two transfers in freshman Tatem Donels and sophomore Sonny Ward who should both contribute this year."
