DJ Newman SS / RHP / Archbold, OH / 2022
Report: 6-0, 170-pounds with an athletic frame. Legit two-way prospect as a SS/RHP. Runs a 6.6 60 with mid-80s arm at short. At the plate, the RHH uses all fields as well as any hitter I have seen in the past couple of years. Stays on the ball so well and can rocket it up the middle or to the right side. On the mound showcases a live arm with a fastball/breaking ball combination that tunnel well. Newman is a three-sport guy, so the velo should continue to climb after basketball season.
Pitch Repertoire:
- Fastball: 80-83 mph. The fastball works downhill and gets on hitters well.
- Curveball: 69-72 mph. 12/6 shape with sharp action and a big break.
Game Performance: 2-3, 2B, 2 R, 2 RBIs, BB | 5 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 11 K

Report: 6-4, 230-pound physical frame. Shoacases quick arm speed through a ¾ arm slot. Slow-tempo type pitcher with a strong balance point. Repeatable delivery. Velo maintained well in windup or stretch, never going below 80 mph. We will get to more of the big RHP games this spring, hopefully without the 30+ mph wind like in this game. Jackson is a three-sport guy, so the velo should continue to climb after basketball season.
Pitch Repertoire:
- Fastball: 81-84 mph. Slight arm-side run.
- Curveball: 70-72 mph. Almost 12/6 action with some depth.
- Slider: 71-75 mph. Shows a 10/4 shape with sharp action.
Game Performance: 3 IP, 5 H, 7 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K

Dane Ebel SS / RHP / Lincolnview, OH / 2023
Report: 5-10, 165-pound athletic frame left-handed hitting two-way prospect as a shortstop/pitcher. Found the barrell well against a pitcher who was missing most barrells.
Pitch Repertoire:
- Fastball: 79-82, 83T with arm-side run.
- Curveball: 66-69 mph. 11/5 action with good depth when he stays on top of the baseball.
- Changeup: 72-75 mph. Confident in the pitch. Good arm action. Good arm-side run. A solid pitch overall.

Report: 6-2, 190-pounds with an athletic frame. The righty showcases a quick high-3/4 arm action. Needs to incorporate his lower half more and the velo should rise. Tough conditions to throw in, with a 30+ mph wind straight in the face, didn't help with the control, but control was an issue with the five walks. All in all, a solid showing for the uncommitted righty from Napoleon. We will see Tanner later this spring with an update.
Pitch Repertoire:
- Fastball: 82-86 mph. More on the straight side, but the velo maintained throughout the four innings of work.
- Curveball: 72-75 mph. 12/6 action with little depth.
Game Performance: 4 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 2 ER, 5 BB, 6 K

Jayden Jerger RHP / 1B / Defiance, OH / 2022
Report: 6-1, 180-pounds with an athletic frame. Quick arm action on the bump, which projects in more velo to come. A little funk to the delivery with the high leg kick and turn. Good three-pitch mix. Looking forward to see where the junior righty is later this spring velo wise.
Pitch Repertoire:
- Fastball: 82-86 mph with more in there.
- Fastball (stretch): 81-84 mph.
- Curveball: 68-70 mph. 11/5 action with good depth when he stays on top of the baseball.
- Changeup: 72-74 mph. Drops his arm a bit, but shows good arm speed and action on the baseball with the changeup.
Game Performance: 4 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K

Brandon Swope 1B / LHP / Rossford, OH / 2023
Report: 5-9, 150-pound athletic two-way prospect. At the plate, the LHH starts in an athletic/balanced stance with a smooth load. Level swing plane and above average bat speed. Put together solid at bats vs a solid arm. Came in relief on the mound, using a high-3/4 arm slot and a three-pitch mix. Good balance in his delivery.
Pitch Repertoire:
- Fastball: 76-79 with a little arm-side run.
- Curveball: 68-70 mph. 1/7 shape with the makings of a solid pitch when on top of the baseball.
Changeup: 68-70 mph. Similar arm speed as the fastball with some arm-side run. Good looking offspeed pitch.
Game Performance: 1-3 | 2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 0 K

Connar Penrod RHP / SS / Wauseon, OH / 2021
Report: 6-2, 180-pounds with an athletic frame. Three-sport athlete (QB in football and wing in basketball). Just coming off of basketball season, this was Penrod's first outing of the season. The BGSU commit has a funky delivery that creates deception. Penrod was efficient, throwing 57 of 83 pitches for strikes. We will see Penrod again later this spring to see how he develops over the spring season.
Pitch Repertoire:
- Fastball: 84-87, touching 89 mph with some arm-side run. He does well keeping it low in the zone.
- Curveball: 68-72 mph. 11/5 action with good depth when he stays on top of the baseball.
- Changeup: 78-79mph. Arm speed slowed down, but there was similar arm-side run as the fastball. A developing pitch that will be an important pitch to compliment the fastball/curveball combo.
Game Performance: 5 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K

Camden Roth C / OF / Defiance, OH / 2021
Report: 6-2, 175-pound right-handed hitting catcher/outfielder. Above average arm strength behind the dish. Showed pop times of 2.00-2.20. Has the athleticism to move to a corner outfield spot with the arm strength to play right field. At the plate, the right handed hitter has a simple approach. Quick to the ball with a level bat path through the zone. Roth has the ability to play at the next level.
Game Performance: 3-4, 2 1B, HR, 3 RBIs, 2 R

David Jimenez OF / RHP / Defiance, OH / 2023
Report: 6-0, 160-pounds with an athletic frame. Just coming off of basketball season, this was Jimenez's first outing of the season. The talented sophomore two-way prospect came in relief for Defiance, and kept his team in the game, throwing 2.1 scoreless innings before giving up two runs in the 8th with his team up by six. Confident three-pitch pitcher.
Pitch Repertoire:
- Fastball: 79-81, touching 82 mph with some arm-side run. He does well keeping it low in the zone.
- Curveball: 70-72 mph. 11/5 action with good depth when he stays on top of the baseball.
- Changeup: 71-73 mph. Similar arm speed and arm-side run as the fastball.
Game Performance: 3.1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

Jayden Jerger RHP / OF / Defiance, OH / 2022
Report: 6-1, 180-pound right-handed pitching prospect showed well with the bat today. The future college pitcher hit a no-doubt bomb to help the Bulldogs get the extra inning win. We will see Jerger later this spring on the bump and get a full report.
Game Performance: 2-4, 2B, HR, 2 RBIs, R
