With 2021 now in the past, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best 2022 high school coverage that can be found anywhere. 2022 Spring Team Preview: Roger Bacon Spartans

Team Name: Roger Bacon Spartans
Head Coach: Tim McCoy
Division: III
2021 Record: 18-9
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 7/7

2022 Team Strengths:

Experience
Athleticism

Coach Outlook: "Time will tell with this baseball team. We are senior heavy, which is always a plus. We return a ton of varsity experience. We will be strong up the middle from behind the plate, through CF. We return two starters from the 2019 Final Four team. I think we have a hungry group, but translating that to execution will be interesting. Our roster is filled with several multi-sport athletes which definitely gives a nod to our athleticism. If we can put together quality at bats throughout the season, we can potentially be a nightmare on the base paths with our speed. Defense should be solid. Pitching is going to be an area we need to really compete at. Looking forward to watching players step up for this program."

Top Returning Players:

Jake Tschida, CF/LHP, 6'0 190, Sr, L/L- One of the best ball players in the area. Jake broke the school triples record last year with 9. Led the team with 31 hits. .373 avg, 2 2B, 9 3B, 4 HR, 17 RBI, 11 SB, 18Ks in 9.2 IP
George Janzen, C, 6'0 190, Sr, R/R- George is incredible behind the plate. .281 Avg, 18 hits, 2 2B, 1 3B.
Jacob Goyette, 3B RHP, 6'4 195, Sr, R/R- Jacob battle injuries last season, but was solid when healthy.
Anthony Hoffmann, MIF, 6'0 180, JR, R/R- Anthony came on strong the second half of the season. He really swung it well and played a strong second base. .333 avg, 16 hits, 2 2Bs.
Luke Wagner, LF, 6'2 190, Sr, R/R- Luke, Thomas Moore commit, hit in the top of lineup all season. He is an excellent baserunner. .273 avg, 21 hits, 18 stolen bases.
Ty Brenner, MIF RHP, 6'0 185, Sr, R/R- Ty may be our number one on the mound this season. Great athlete. Played really well towards the end of the '21 season. Looking for solid leadership from him this season.

Kyle Hauser 5'11 175lbs MIF RHP, R/R- Kyle played varsity as a frosh. He has really solid hands and gap power at the plate.
AJ Meyer 5'9 170 lbs OF L/R- AJ is poised to have a big season. He can fly. He handles the bat well.
Avery Battle- 6'0 190 3B, R/R- Avery can swing the bat.
