With 2022 now in the past, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best high school coverage that can be found anywhere in 2023. Starting in February, we began releasing team previews for squads across the state. Ahead, we will have Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings coming your way.

2023 Spring Team Preview: Sylvania Southview Cougars

Team Name: Sylvania Southview Cougars
Head Coach: Tim McCarthy
Division: I
2022 Record: 10-19
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 5/6

Coach Outlook: "We bring back five starters along with several other lettermen this spring. Overall this will be a young team but the youth does carry a decent amount of experience. I am hoping the experience gained last year as freshmen and sophomores will pay off. We have pretty good depth on the mound, albeit mostly inexperienced. They will be tested with a tough non-league and Northern Lakes League schedule. I believe our ability to throw strikes and play defense will determine our overall success."

  • Avery Offenburg, CF/LHP, 2024, 6-4, 200 lbs, R/L, 2 year starter. Last Year Stats - .200, 3 2B, 6 RBI, 8 R. 22 IP, 2-2 W/L, 4.45 ERA, 14 K
  • Brayden Posner, C, 2024, 5-11, 175 lbs, R/R, 2 year starter
