OK Fall Underclass Games: Second Baseman Analysis

PBR OK hosted the fourth annual OK Fall Underclass Prospect Games at beautiful Oral Roberts University. Nearly 75 invite-only players showcased their skill in front of the PBR OK staff and ORU staff. The talented event saw five sub 7.00 60s, 6 90+ exit velos, 6 infield velos of 80+, 5 outfield velos of 85+, 5 sub 2.00 second pop times, and 5 max fastballs at 85 mph. Today, we take an in-depth look at the four second basemen from the event, below.

Cade Bauer 2B / SS / Owasso, OK / 2022

A 5-foot-9, 155-pound proportional frame; 2B/SS. During batting practice, the left-handed hitters best exit velocity was 77 mph. Started in an open stance with a small load, then used a short stride just before his swing. Exhibits an upward swing plane and a high finish. In BP, shows a middle of the field and flat approach that will play up with strength, found mostly barrels. While in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 69 mph; displayed sure hands and a fluid exchange. Showing consistent accuracy to the bases, he had a loose arm action with a low ¾ slot. He clocked a time of 7.19 in the 60-yard dash.


Zachary Burnes 2B / OF / Owasso, OK / 2022

A 5-foot-9, 160-pound athletic frame; 2B/OF. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 80 mph. Began in an athletic stance with a smooth load, then used a leg kick before his swing. Displayed an upward swing plane, quick bat speed and good extension on his finish. In BP, shows a spray approach to all fields, some barrels. In the infield, his best throw was recorded at 74 mph across the field; displayed a clean exchange, rhythmic feet and twitchy hands. Laterally, his movements were athletic. Using a loose arm action, he showed consistent accuracy to the base from a ¾ slot. 


Hank Heiselbetz 2B / 3B / Edmond North , OK / 2022

A 5-foot-10, 140-pound slim frame; 2B/3B. During batting practice, the left-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 77 mph. Starts in a tall stance with a smooth load, then uses a leg kick just before his swing. Displayed above average bat speed, as well as a straight-to-the-ball swing plane and a high finish. In BP, shows an all fields and flat approach that will play up with strength and mostly barrels While in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 73 mph; displayed next level hands, a quick exchange and rhythmic feet. Fields the ball out front while his movements laterally were athletic. Showing very consistent accuracy to the bag, he had a compact arm action and a high ¾ slot. During the event, he recorded a 60 time of 7.57.


Rhett Rogers 2B / SS / Union, OK / 2023

A 5-foot-6, 135-pound developing frame; 2B/SS. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 70 mph. Began in a balanced stance with a small load, then used a short stride to start his swing. Displayed a level swing plane and average bat speed. In BP, shows a middle to pull and mostly flat approach with some barrels. In the outfield, his best throws to the infield topped out at 67 mph. Showed decent accuracy to the base with a ¾ slot and a short arm action. He clocked a time of 7.39 in the 60-yard dash.
