Holiday Hitters - London: Quick Hits I

Ryan Sattz
Scout, PBR Ontario

The first showcase in our three-part Holiday Hitters Series in Ontario took place on Tuesday, December 27th with 19 hitters in attendance at the The Batter's Box.

The event allowed players to update their profile and hitting metrics in an intimate setting with players receiving several rounds of extended batting practice, collecting data through our tech partner TrackMan

We continue our post-event coverage below with reports and video on four of the standouts from the event.

Braylon Benedetti 3B / 1B / Medway, ON / 2024

Benedetti put together a strong round at the plate with loud barrels to the big part of the field. The swing was compact, did not get cheated at the plate and looked to hurt baseballs every swing he took. The body stands out at the plate with a physical 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame that is still growing. Benedetti is an uncommitted 2024 that schools should keep an eye on.

Ryan King OF / RHP / Parkside Collegiate Institute , ON / 2024

King did not disappoint on the day with a quality look at the plate. In the box the swing is level with quick, twitchy actions and a barrel that gets in the zone early. Worked mostly up the middle to
the pull side but showed to be able to spray the ball to the opposite field. Will be a name to look out for at 5-foot-9 170-pounds and had one of the more advanced frames at the event.

Logan Melo 3B / 1B / John Paul II, ON / 2025

Melo was another London Badger that stood out on the day with a ton of barrels to the pullside. Melo is one of the top 2025s in Ontario and looked comfortable in the box working mostly to the pull side. The swing is simple with a quiet setup and loft displayed on contact. Melo is one of the top bats in the 2025 class and continues to show improvements with his swing.

Charlie Ashman 1B / RHP / College Avenue Secondary , ON / 2026

Ashman was a bat that caught a lot of people’s eyes during his rounds at the plate. In the box he gets extended on contact, keeps his hands inside the ball with hard contact up the middle and to the pull side gap. He used his body well to create torque and leverage in his swing. Good looking 2026 that will be an interesting follow.
