Langley Blaze Pro Tour Quick Hits (vs. Dodgers)
March 21, 2023
Our third stop on the Langley Blaze Pro Tour was at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, home of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox. The Langley Blaze went nine innings against prospects from the Dodgers system and also took on-field BP.
Canada’s top 2023 draft prospect Myles Naylor (Texas Tech, Ontario Blue Jays) made headlines as he picked up a trio of base hits with two of them going for extra-bases. and Deiten LaChance (McLennan CC, ABC Academy) also had a pair of hits with one of them being a loud, hard-hit double that one-hopped the LF wall.
Our staff also got a look at several uncommitted 2024 and 2025 arms from the West Coast who all come with plenty of upside on the mound. Below, we break down the standout players from the game with scouting notes and video.

LANGLEY BLAZE PRO TOUR QUICK HITS (VS. DODGERS)
Myles Naylor 3B / St. Joan of Arc, ON / 2023‘23 3B Myles Naylor (Texas Tech) put together the best day at the dish we’ve seen this week from any player. His first AB he came through on the first pitch for a screaming double the other way and he followed it up with another opposite field double in his second at-bat, this one a flyball that landed on the warning track. Had the hit tool and strength on display today. After a quiet first two days on our trip, Naylor broke out on Tuesday and showed what he’s capable of at the dish.

Deiten Lachance C / 3B / Le triolet, QC / 20232023 C Deiten LaChance continues to swing the bat this week as he’s picked up four hits in the past two games. The first knock hit he stayed back on a high breaking ball and muscled into RF for a single. The second was a fastball over the plate he timed up and caught outfront for a loud double that one-hopped the LF wall. Wide stance from the right-side with high hands and comes with a physical frame at 6-foot-4, 240-pounds. One of the top overall catchers in the country and has continued to show the ability to find the barrel against high-level arms.

Robert Scalzo RHP / Lambrick Park, BC / 20252025 RHP Robert Scalzo (Uncommitted) was one of the more intriguing arms we saw on the day and there’s lots to like with the 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame. Clean mechanics on the mound and is consistently on-time with his delivery. The fastball sat 82-84 during his one inning of work and topped out at 87mph. Was heavy on the fastball but threw two sliders at 74-75mph with downward action and both were fouled off. An underclassmen going up against pro hitters and handled his own. One of the better 2025 arms on the West Coast.

Rees Kozar C / OF / St. Thomas of Villanova , ON / 2023Rankings StateRank: 18 / POS: 1
2023 C/1B Rees Kozar (Niagara) was another standout bat on Tuesday with a pair of hard hit balls, one of them going for a single to LF. Strong 6-foot-1, 215-pound frame and has handled the pro arms well this week and shown the ability to find the barrel against high-velocity arms. Typically handles catching duties but has been playing at first base this week in Arizona. One of most consistent bats during the week and is proving to be one of the more productive senior bats in Ontario.

Ian Vandepol RHP / SS / Unity Christian School, BC / 2025Rankings StateRank: 4 / POS: 2
2025 RHP Ian Vandepol (Uncommitted) was a standout arm at our BC New Year Open and impressed again on Tuesday. The fastball sat 80-83mph along with a SL at 70-74 and he creates some deception on the mound with the delivery. 5-foot-11, 165-pound right-hander with command. An interesting arm on the West Coast who is starting to garner attention as one of the more intriguing underclass arms in BC. Will be a close watch throughout the summer as he throws in-game against players his own age.
