Scouting Report

5/1/17 5-foot-11, 215-pound right-handed hitting third baseman reached base four times on this day with a hard hit single through left side and three walks. Keene demonstrates significant bat speed with pull side power. At times there is some top half drift compromising ability to stay short and get through ball on inner half.  Arm strength plays on left side of infield.

10/29/16 Physical, 5-foot-11, 215-pound right-handed hitter. Hits from a square stance and holds bat at a good launch angle. 91 mph exit velocity indicates power potential, and there is likely more in there. Currently swings mostly with his top half, as he gets his weight into his front side early, limiting his ability to incorporate his back side into his swing. Showed solid footwork defensively and threw out of an over-the-top arm slot with 79 mph arm strength that has some carry. He ran a 7.65 60-yard dash.

9/11/16 5-foot-11, 215-pound right-handed hitter looked more comfortable and showcased improved across-the-board measurables on this date. Showcased a 91 mph bat exit velocity and present power to the pull side with strong lower half action to a repeatable swing. Moved well laterally during defensive evaluations and displayed solid carry on throws of 79 mph across the diamond from third base.

9/10/16 Physical 5-foot-11, 215-pound right-handed hitter went 1-for-4 with a walk during game action. Starts from a square stance and utilizes a short, lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing from a high hands load. Displayed solid feel for the barrel with a strong lower half and a bat exit velocity of 85 mph. Corner infielder displayed capable defensive actions at both positions with good carry on throws of 79 mph from third base.
