Western Pennsylvania Game of the Day: North Allegheny at Butler

Butler took an early lead and then showed it's mental toughess after a furious North Allegheny rally tied the game in the sixth.  An RBI single by Jacob Keene opened the scoring in the second giving Butler the 1-0 lead.  Singles by Ben Surman and Bobby Brown in the North Allegheny third quickly tied the score at one.

Isaiah LucasButler broke out the bats in the fourth banging out six hits including three for extra bases.  Cade Negley (currently No. 29 in the PA Class of 2017 rankings), Connor Ollio (currently No. 4 in the PA Class of 2018 rankings)  and Dallas Hays singled.  Ryan Lynn drove in two with a double and Jacob Slomers plated one with a double of his own.  Isaiah Lucas (pictured right) tripled in two and when the smoke cleared the Golden Tornado led 7-1.

The Tigers got right back in the game in their half of the fifth.  Surman singled and Luke Trueman changed the momentum with an inside the park home run to cut the deficit to 7-3.  An Alex Mesaros (pictured left) RBI double and a run scoring error made the score 7-5.

Alex MesarosAlec Bayer came up with what turned out to be a very important add on run for Butler in the fifth on an RBI single.  North Allegheny tied the score at 8-8 in the sixth when singles by Caiden Wood and Justin Hamm and some wildness on the mound plated three runs.

North Allegheny experienced their own difficulties on the mound in the seventh which ultimately gave Butler the victory.  Ollio led off the inning with a single.  After one out the Tigers then walked three consecutive hitters to force in the winning run.  

Multiple hit games for Butler were registered by Negley (2-4, 1 R) and Ollio (2-4 2 R).  The Tigers got multiple hits from Mesaros (2-3, 1 R, 2 RBI) and Surman (2-3, 3 R).
