Ohio Insider: 2018 Buckeye Elite Showcase - Sneak Peek

Pitchers

Brennan Mccune RHP / 3B / Dover, OH / 2021

Report: McCune came on to the scene in a big way with this outing. 6-foot-1, 180-pound prospect with more physical maturation left on frame. Works with an uptempo pace to a delivery that has some effort. Loose, live arm with obvious strength. Fastball comes out well, sitting 84-88 mph with more 87s than anything. The pitch is heavy while working downhill. Offspeed has room to improve but a ‘21 with that velocity will attract D1 attention.

Infielders

Trevor Thomas SS / RHP / Wheeling Park, WV / 2019

Report: A right-handed hitter that starts in an athletic stance. Obvious athleticism in the box. Launches from a balanced position displaying loud natural tools through the zone. Ball comes off his bat really well, taking one of the louder BPs of the day. Already impressive hit tool with a chance to be a beast physically as he fills out projectable frame. Defensively shows above average lateral ability moving side to side with grace Constantly fields the ball out front while creating good momentum into his throws. Shows more than enough arm strength to play the position reaching a top velocity at 86 mph across the infield. Profiles to stay at shortstop at the next level.

Outfielders

Sean McGowan OF / 3B / Bethel Park, PA / 2020

Report: At the plate he took one of the louder BPs of the entire even. Load is athletic with well timed movements that generate solid energy into contact. Loose/whippy swing with barrel authority through contact. Sprayed line drives everywhere with present barrel jump. Really high ceiling at the plate. Shows a skill set that plays in each of the three outfield positions. Fluid footwork while approaching the baseball with direct routes. Throws with a clean arm through a high-3/4 slot with some straight line carry while topping out at 79 mph.

Catchers

Anthony Ryan C / 2B / Shenango, PA / 2019

Report: A righty swinger that starts in a balanced setup. Load is fluid and athletic into a balanced launch. An aggressive swinger with well above average natural tools. Very efficient path allows him to lift the ball naturally with well above average pop. Type of guy that has a chance to hit for power and average down the road. Behind the plate he showed a big arm and popped as low as 1.94.
