2018 PBR Future Games Preview: Team Pennsylvania Middle Infielders

Greg Williams
Pennsylvania Director of Scouting

2018 marks the 7th year that Pennsylvania will be represented in the PBR Future Games. This one-of-a-kind event will feature the best uncommitted Class of 2020 & select 2021 prospects from our 35-plus state coverage area. The Future Games will take place on August 1 - 4 (Wednesday-Saturday) at Grand Park, a state-of-the-art 22-field baseball complex located in Westfield, IN, just north of Indianapolis.

The Prep Baseball Report Future Games is the premier summer scouting event for Class of 2020/2021 prospects. Last year, more than 250 college coaches from all over the country were in attendance, making it arguably the most heavily recruited event of the summer.

Today we continue a preview of the 19 prospects that will represent the Keystone State as members of Team Pennsylvania with a look at a trio of middle infielders.

Team Pennsylvania MIDDLE INFIELDERS

Cam Conley SS / 2B / Malvern Prep, PA / 2020

2018 Preseason All-State Showcase
5-foot-9, 150-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a controlled leg-hang stride to initiate his swing. Displayed an above average feel for the barrel while making consistent hard contact with the ability to create back spin. Ran a 6.96 and showcased more than enough arm strength defensively (84 mph) to stay on the left side of the infield. Displayed active feet, a soft glove hand and the ability to make plays on the move. Athletic frame has room to add additional strength.

Max Hitman SS / 3B / Archbishop John Carroll, PA / 2020

2017 Elite Prospect Showcase
5-foot-11, 175-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a leg-hang stride. Flashed advance rhythm and balance to his swing with the ability to create consistent backspin and a bat exit velocity of 81 mph. Ran a 7.01 60-yard dash and showcased advanced actions defensively that will make him a highly coveted defender in this class. Takes solid routes to the baseball, plays the ball in front and shows little wasted movement with effortless 78 mph arm strength across the diamond. Looks very comfortable playing the ball on the move and has much more arm strength in the tank.

Sam Ruta SS / 3B / Pennsbury, PA / 2020

6-foot-2, 185-pound SS/3B from Pennsbury HS. Left-handed hitter was a second team all-league selection as a freshman at the Hun School in New Jersey and a first team Suburban One League selection as a sophomore at Pennsbury.
