2018 Western PA Top Prospect Games: Day One Highlights

The 2018 Western PA Top Prospect Games opened play with 60 players taking part in showcase activities and a pair of nine inning games. Two more games are on the schedule for today with start times of 10:00am and 2:00pm..
Following are seven players that shined on day one.
+ 2020 OF/LHP Domenic Popa (Seton-La Salle Catholic) is a 6.9 runner, but did not run yesterday as he recovers from a sore hamstring. The rising junior will participate for Team Pennsylvania in August at the 2018 PBR Future Games in Indiana. Popa flashed athletic actions in the outfield during defensive evaluations with 83 mph arm strength and registered an 86 mph bat exit velocity. Popa went on to go 4-for-4 during game action using all fields in an impressive day at the plate.
+ 2021 catcher Sammy Contacos (Penn-Trafford), currently ranked No. 5 in the PA Class of 2021 turned in the top pop time of the day at 1.94 with 76 mph arm strength out of the crouch. While his arm strength and defensive abilities behind the plate are advanced, he also shows some potential offensively with some present power to the pull side.
+ 2019 OF Albert Choi (Downingtown East) turned in the top 60 time of the day at 6.59 and flashed 88 mph arm strength from the outfield. The right-handed hitter also showcased an 88 mph bat exit velocity and flashed his foot speed on a stand up triple on a line drive to the left field wall during game action.
+ 2019 RHP Rockne Seidel (Cathedral Prep) sat 86-86 touching 87 mph while also flashing an advanced slider at 75-77 during three scoreless innings of work in game one. The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder allowed one hit in his three innings of work while striking out three.
+ 2019 LHP Gino Marra (Plum) flashed an advanced feel for three pitches and the ability to command both sides of the plate with a fastball that sat 80-83 while touching 84 mph. The 5-foot-9, 150-pound lefty effectively mixed his fastball, with a quality curveball at 70 mph and an effective changeup to work three scoreless innings with seven strikeouts.
+ 2021 catcher Hunter Klotz (Central) showcased an advanced left-handed swing in batting practice and laced a triple to the right field wall in his first at bat. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder showcased an 84 mph bat exit velocity and a top pop time of 2.14 with 70 mph arm strength out of the crouch.
+ 2020 outfielder Bobby Lane (Penn-Trafford) ran a 6.82 60-yard dash, showcased an 87 mph bat exit velocity and 82 mph arm strength from the outfield. The 6-foot, 180-pounder took an impressive round of batting practice and went 2-for-3 in game action.
