Eastern PA Top Prospect Games Spotlight: 2021 OF Peter Kern

The Eastern PA Top Prospect Games annually showcases roughly 70 top uncommitted prospects across the state and from a few surrounding states. 2019 marks the 8th year for this event with hundreds of former participants having gone on to college commitments and to professional baseball. 

As we draw closer to June we will be periodically highlighting some of the prospects scheduled to participate. Today we continue our preview with a look at 2021 outfielder Peter Kern. The right-handed hitter is having a strong sophomore season carrying a .609 batting average with 13 RBI and five doubles while battling for time in a deep Malvern Prep lineup.

Scouting Report

11/19/16 6-foot, 165-pound eighth grader has a projectable frame and showcased lots of fast twitch actions on the day (6.75 60-yard dash). The right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and creates solid barrel whip (80 mph) with a short, heel-raise stride and an aggressive hip turn. Although he has some length to his swing signs of future power to the pull side are evident. The underclassman displayed a developing skill set defensively with accurate 77 mph arm strength from the outfield.
