Top Prospects

Grant UmbergerGrant Umberger, LHP/OF, Downingtown East HS (PA)
6-foot-4, 210-pound primary pitcher looks every bit his listed size in a uniform. The lefty impressed recently in front of our national scouting staff at the WWBA championships in Florida utilizing a compact, efficient delivery with a short, quick arm swing. Umberger sat 81-82 from a high 3/4 arm slot on this day with arm-side run to his fastball and much more in the tank. He displayed a fluid, balanced delivery with good sell on his changeup that showed late sink at 66-68. The curveball is still developing but was commanded well at 61-64 with some sweeping action. Umberger ran a 7.28 60-yard dash and flashed 89 mph arm strength from the outfield. The right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a controlled, lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. A short swing path with a solid hip turn results in a bat exit velocity of 84 mph. Showcased an above average feel for the barrel with present power to the pull side. Umberger has since been added to the Team Pennsylvania roster as a left-handed pitcher for the 2018 PBR Future Games.

Cooper WebbCooper Webb, RHP/OF, Spring-Ford HS (PA)
6-foot-2, 195-pound primary pitcher has a mature frame. Webb has made a significant jump in velocity since we last saw him in August at the Fall Kickoff Showcase. On that date Webb sat 82-84. Two months later, Webb sat 86-88 while bumping 89 mph. While the fastball is relatively straight he does create some angles with a bit of crossfire action from a high 3/4 arm slot. Curveball at 68-69 showed tight, 12/6 rotation. Also commanded a cutter at 72-74 and a changeup at 73-76 in his four-pitch mix. The two-way prospect ran a 7.27 60-yard dash and flashed 88 mph arm strength from the outfield. The left-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Stays inside the baseball well and showed an above average feel for the barrel with a bat exit velocity of 84 mph. Webb has since been added to the Team Pennsylvania roster as a right-handed pitcher for the 2018 PBR Future Games.

Remaining Prospects (in alphabetical order)

Changeup was thrown with good sell at 71-72 while showing some sinking action. 5-foot-11, 150-pound right-handed hitter starts from an open stance and takes a short stride to square in initiating his swing. Displayed a short swing path with a solid feel for the barrel and a bat exit velocity of 82 mph. Ran a 6.88 60-yard dash and flashed accurate 79 mph arm strength from the outfield while playing through the baseball.

Drew Druckenmiller, SS/RHP, Conrad Weiser HS (PA)
5-foot-7, 125-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a leg-hang stride. Ran an 8.11 60-yard dash and flashed a confident glovehand while playing through the baseball routinely defensively. Developing 72 mph arm strength will improve through physical maturity and strength gains. Sat 68-70 off the mound from a high 3/4 arm slot. Showcased sound, balanced delivery with a side rocker step. Also commanded a curveball with 11/5 rotation at 61-63 and a changeup with cutting action at 63-65.

Braiden Hitchings, RHP/OF, Cedar Crest HS (PA)
5-foot-11, 155-pound primary pitcher sat 79-80 from a 3/4 arm slot with arm-side run to his fastball. Balanced delivery includes a long takeaway with quick arm action out front. Curveball showed short 11/5 break at 67-69 and changeup was thrown at near fastball arm speed sitting 72-73. Right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing from a high hands load utilizing a leg-hang stride. Flat barrel path leads to some length in swing with an exit velocity of 79 mph. Ran a 7.22 60-yard dash and showcased athletic actions defensively with 83 mph arm strength from the outfield.

Jarod Wade, SS/RHP, Malvern Prep (PA)
6-foot-1, 160-pound primary shortstop showcased active feet and a confident glove hand with an over-the-top throwing motion. Displayed accurate 82 mph arm strength and the potential to play multiple defensive positions with his size and athleticism. Right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride. Hands launch from a point of strength and stay behind baseball in spite of some lower half glide. Displayed above average feel for the barrel and a bat exit velocity of 81 mph. Ran a 7.28 60-yard dash and sat 76-78 from an over-the-top arm slot with little movement to his fastball. Curveball displayed short slider break at 65-67 and changeup showed some late sink at 68-69.
