Solanco 4, Mechanicsburg 3

May brings better weather and the excitement of playoff baseball. Monday marked the start of tournament play in PIAA District 3 and our game of the day did not disappoint.

A walk-off double from senior Tim Fetterman following a pair of walks to begin the bottom of the 7th inning sent Solanco fans home happy and the Golden Mules on to the 2nd round of the Class 5A tournament. Solanco will play No. 2 seed Lampeter-Strasburg on Thursday at 7:00 pm at L-S.

Mechanicsburg did their part in the top of the 7th to make things very interesting. Trailing 3-0 on just four hits through six innings, the Wildcats used three hits, a walk and a pair of sacrifice flies to knot the game.

Solanco senior Hayden Fox went the distance for the win allowing seven hits and a pair of walks while striking out five. The Golden Mules were led offensively by Fetterman (2-for-3, 2B, 2 R, RBI) and 2020 IF Michael May (2-for-3, BB, R, RBI).

Solanco moved to 16-6 with the win. Mechanicsburg's season came to a close with the loss at 13-7.
