Walsh Jesuit vs Olentangy Liberty - 4/6/19

By: Jordan Chiero
PBR Ohio Director of Scouting

Jake Armsey SS / RHP / Walsh Jesuit, OH / 2021

Report: One of the top in game players in the state for his class. Looked the part over at third base where he has advanced ball skills for the position. More than athletic enough to play 2B if need be as well. At the plate he has smooth efficient movements that lead to a balanced launch. Path plays and he shows very solid feel for contact, barreling everything on the day against quality arms. Very talented prospect who will impress more in game than in showcase setting.

Game Performance: 1-2, RBI, BB, 2 R, SB

Defiance vs Van Wert - 4/5/19

By: Dylan Hefflinger
PBR Ohio Editor in Chief / NW Scout

Blayne Robinson 1B / LHP / Defiance, OH / 2019

Report: 6-5 215-pound very projectable two-way prospect. The southpaw shows athletic actions on the hill and is coming into his own as a pitcher. Fluid/rhythmic delivery before showing some explosiveness through release. Repeatable delivery. A true three-pitch pitcher. Having just started to buy in as a pitcher less that 6 months ago, the skies the limit for the southpaw on the hill. Headed to Louisville as a position player, don't be surprised to see him have the chance to show his stuff on the hill as well.

Pitch Repertoire:
Fastball:
Sat 85-87 mph, touching 88 with the fastball jumping out of the hand well, getting on the hitter and getting plenty of late swings. The pitch is mostly straight, but is showing more arm-side run in this outing.

Curveball: The breaker is coming along and is showing the makings of a true out pitch (seen in video at 58 sec mark). The curveball comes in at 71-74 with good spin and depth.

Changeup: The change comes out of the same arm slot as the fastball, while showing good arm-side run (43 second mark in video). The change sits 74-76 mph.

Game Performance: 7 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 10 K, 0 BB | 1-4, 1 RBI

Antwerp vs Edgerton - 4/4/19

By: Dylan Hefflinger
PBR Ohio Editor in Chief / NW Scout

Luke Krouse LHP / OF / Antwerp, OH / 2022

Report: 6-0, 170-pound impressive looking two-way freshman. You can certainly see why the southpaw is ranked top five in the Class of 2022 rankings, as he looks the part on the mound and at the plate. Despite being the worst weather day of the spring so far (30 degrees, damp, 20+ mph winds), the southpaw still put in work. On this day, the lefty saw four batters and struck out all four for the save. On the mound, the arm is super loose/whippy with clean actions. Velo will continue to rise as he matures. Works downhill well while throwing three pitches with confidence. Throws through a 3/4 slot. At the plate, the hit tool is impressive as well. Swings it from the left side. Uses a slight toe-tap for his timing mechanism. The barrell gets through the zone with ease. Good extension after contact. Uses his lower half as well as any I've seen so far this spring, and he's only a freshman. Athletic actions at the plate. Get out to see this two-way prospect!

Pitch Repertoire:
Fastball:
Threw the fastball to all parts of the zone, painting the corner glove side and to his open side. Also went up top to get a strikeout, blowing the fastball by the four hitters he saw. The fastball shows slight run while coming it at 78-80. Considering the weather, the velo could already be higher this spring, which I will get a report on.

Curveball: The curve features good 1/7 break while coming in at 66-67 mph. Shows some sharpness to it. The breaker is above average at this point with the makings of being a true out pitch down the line.

Changeup: A true three-pitch pitcher, the change being the third offering. Didn't throw it to any of the four batters in game, but showed it in warm-ups. Looked confident in it, with the arm speed similar to the fastball. The CH comes in at 65-67 mph.

Game Performance: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 4 K, 0 BB | 0-2, 1 RBI

New Albany vs Olentangy - 4/3/19

By: Jordan Chiero
PBR Ohio Director of Scouting

Austin Erdely RHP / OF / New Albany, OH / 2019

Report: A 6-foot-2,  good athlete (6.78 runner) with electric stuff. Tossed two innings, and was absolutely dominant in the first. Fastball was anywhere from 86-91 mph, staying mostly in the 88-90 range. Breaking was near plus, grading as a more than college ready pitch. Spun the breaker on an 11/5 plane at 76-80 mph with present swing and miss. Ton of upside here.

Game Performance: 2 Innings, 4 K’s, 4 BB, 3 Runs

St. Marys vs Defiance - 4/2/19

By: Dylan Hefflinger
PBR Ohio Editor in Chief / NW Scout

Adalberto Vega C / Defiance, OH / 2019

Report: 6-0, 215-pound catching prospect. The bat stands out. Athletic in the box with a smooth load which creates solid pop at the plate. Bat speed is there. Vega can swing it. Needs added stength in the arm behind the dish, but the feet work and has a quick transfer. Pop times in the 2.1 area. Good late get for a program.

Game Performance: 3-3, 1 RBI, 1 BB

Paulding vs Defiance - 4/1/19

By: Dylan Hefflinger
PBR Ohio Editor in Chief / NW Scout

Hunter Kauser C / RHP / Paulding, OH / 2021

Report: 5-8, 135-pound athletic catcher. Hands and feet work well behind the dish, both showing quickness and athletic movements. Quick transferr. Throws were on the bag all day with above average strength. Pop times in warmups were in the 2.1-2.2 area. That said, the pop time improved in-game, popping a 2.06 on a stolen base attempt. Solid defensive catcher. At the plate the right-handed hitter starts from an athletic stance. Fluid, efficient load that leads to a balanced launch. Sneaky pop for his frame. Solid looking 2021.

Dover vs Zanesville - 4/1/19

By: Jordan Chiero
PBR Ohio Director of Scouting

Brennan Mccune RHP / 3B / Dover, OH / 2021

Report: 6-foot-2 frame that is already somewhat physical and looks to have much more maturing left. Easy delivery that is relatively clean. Arm works well and he is able to generate easy velocity. Liked what I saw with pitchability and ability to carry velocity deep into start, showing some of his heavier fastballs in the 4th/5th inning. Three pitch guy for the most part with a little wrinkle of a knuckle it looks like every once in a while. Not there yet physically but the natural arm strength is very intriguing. McCunne could be one of the higher velo arms in the class if it all comes together. High follow.

Pitch Repertoire:
Fastball:
Impressive velo considering the low 40s weather and time of year. Touched 86 mph, sprinkled a few 5s in and lived in the 82-84 mph range. Fastball is true with occasional running action when working glove side.

Curveball: Average to slightly above average high school breaking ball that should continue to develop more bite as he twitches up. 11/5 shaped offering that has some depth to it. Tossed the offering in the zone regularly at 69-71 mph.

Changeup: Was the sharper of the two secondary offerings on this day. Maintains arm speed and is able to put consistent run and dip on the offering that came in at 72-73 mph. Looked very comfortable with it.

Game Performance: 7 innings, 1 run, 4 hits, 9 K's
