WESTFIELD, Indiana- Taking a break from the sweltering Lone Star summer, Prep Baseball Report Texas has certainly welcomed the calmness of an August in Indiana. Though, we did bring a few things from home.

Team Texas and their fellow statesmen chosen for Team Select have become the first players from Texas to appear at the Future Games. Ballplayers from Dallas, Houston, and everywhere in between made their presences known during the August 1 open workout portion of the event, with buzz building around the inaugural Texas imports.

Some players from Team Texas that made a splash:

Konnor Baird, RHP/1B, Salado HS, 2020
Baird has been to a handful of PBR events this summer, and always found a way to stand out. At 6-foot-3, 190-pounds, Baird gets downhill well with a deceptive arm stroke that works from a short, nearly over-the-top slot. Baird’s delivery is anything but traditional, but he knows how to use it and he proved that yet again. Historically 85-87 mph with his fastball, he was every bit of that again today on the mound, even touching 88 mph, seamlessly locating the pitch both down in the strike zone and to his glove side. Baird has serious feel for his curveball, an 11-5 pitch that generates short, sharp break, and it was a weapon for him this afternoon.
