Updated 2019 Overall Rankings Released

Class of 2019 prospects are barely into their sophomore high school seasons, yet the majority of the top-ranked players have already already pledged their commitment to a college. Indeed, the commitment carousel continues to whirl at a seemingly breakneck pace for this richly talented crop of prospects.

In the updated and expanded Class of 2019 overall rankings, two-thirds of the Top 300 prospects are already verbally committed. Drilling down even further, 84 of the top 100 are off the board, and 45 of the top 50.

The sheer amount of commitments at this stage speaks to both the level of players in the 2019 class and the overall climate of recruiting these days. The highest ranked uncommitted prospect is RHP Quinn Priester (Cary-Grove HS, IL) at No. 16, followed by RHP/SS KC Hunt (Ramapo HS, NJ) at No. 38.

It is important to note that the PBR overall rankings only include the states that we intimately know from our boots-on-the-ground scouting staff. The updated Top 300 Class of 2019 rankings is comprised of our current 34-state coverage area.

While there have been significant shakeups in the updated rankings, SS/RHP Bobby Witt Jr. (Colleyville HS, TX) maintains the No. 1 spot. Committed to Oklahoma, the 6-foot, 165-pound Witt is a polished, dynamic two-way talent who has consistently delivered in all facets of the game. Witt’s premium middle-of-the-field skills, advanced right-handed bat and low-90s velocity on the mound make him the unanimous top prospect in the 2019 class.

With 1B/RHP Triston Casas (American Heritage HS, FL) moving up to the 2018 class, RHP Matthew Thompson (Cypress Ranch HS, TX), LHP/1B Hunter Barco (Bolles HS, FL), OF Riley Greene (Hagerty HS, FL), RHP Brennan Malone (Porter Ridge HS, NC), RHP Joseph Charles (First Academy HS, FL), C Jake Holland (Archbishop McCarthy HS, FL) and SS/RHP Cade Doughty (Denham Springs HS, LA) hold firm in the top 10.

OF Maurice Hampton (Memphis University School, TN), a dynamic two-sport athlete, and RHP/INF Brandon Walker (North Florida Christian HS, FL) both jump into the top 10.  Walker is a high-level two-way prospect who proved at the PBR Florida Preseason All-State Showcase that he has a big ceiling on the mound after running his fastball up to 92 with a swing-and-miss slider.

North Carolina (Charles and Malone) and Louisiana State (Hampton and Doughty) each have two top-10 recruits. In all, Texas has landed 11 commitments in the Top 300, followed by Oklahoma’s 10. Arkansas, LSU, Vanderbilt and Miami each have nine commitments in the Top 300.

There were many big risers outside the top 10. Some of the most significant risers include: C Hayden Travinski (Loyola College Prep, LA), SS Jaden Woodson (Jesuit College Prep, TX), INF Brenden Dixon (Argyle HS, TX), LHP AJ Wilson (East Surry HS, NC), 3B Wade Elliott (Deer Creek HS, OK), RHP Will Frisch (Stillwater HS, MN), C Kurtis Byrne (CBC HS, MO), RHP Major Posey (North Florida Christian HS, FL) and INF Justin Boyd (Legend HS, CO), to name a few.

Enough reading about. See for yourself.
