Last week, we began looking back at some of the top uncommitted prospects still on the market who visited our confines this summer. We started by breaking down seven left-handed pitchers and 40 right-handed pitchers.

Today, we continue by shining a light on uncommitted 2020 catchers.

Jonathan Hogart C / OF / Madisonville North, KY / 2020

6/7/19 - Currently ranked No. 50 in KY. 6-foot-1, 170-pound right-handed hitting catcher and outfielder, in game seen was in the lineup as DH. Offensively, balanced setup, short stride, hands cock on load, maintains great balance through contact. Keeps it simple at the plate, looks to drive the ball back up the middle, generates line drive contact. Above average runner on the bases.

Matthew Levi C / 3B / Science Hill, TN / 2020

7/24/19 - A physical 6-foot-2. 200-pound C/3B was a must see at-bat everytime he stepped up to the plate. From the right-side of the plate, it’s a powerful swing with bat speed through the hitting zone. He gets out front and looks to pull the ball in the air, and when he does the ball carries. Interesting guy to keep an eye on throughout the week.

Jack Davis C / 1B / Parkview, GA / 2020

6/13/19 - 6-foot-4, 178-pound right-handed hitting catcher, lean frame, plenty of room for filling out. Stood out offensively, uses his length well to create leverage, throws the barrel through the zone to generate hard contact.

Nicholas Hemken C / RHP / Edwardsville, IL / 2020

6/21/19 - C Nick Hemken stood out at the plate and behind the dish during NPI which included a bomb over the LF wall. Hemken’s moonshot left the bat with an exit velocity of 92 mph and traveled 350’ before landing well beyond the LF fence. Defensively, he showed an above average arm and moved well in his 6-foot-2, 200 pound frame.

Chuck Ingram C / OF / Rockhurst, MO / 2020

6/20/19 - Excelled at the plate with a pair of hits in his two at-bats—a hard hit single through the six-hole and a line drive single to left. He showed a level swing path, above average bat speed and was aggressive on the bases.

Luke Childers C / RHP / Hamilton Southeastern, IN / 2020

6/28/19 - A 6-foot-1, 170-pound catcher/right-hander showed well at the plate today. It’s an athletic setup, he stays closed and lands in a balanced position. He displays bat control and does a really good job of staying through the ball. He knocked in a few runs in today’s contest for the Indiana Mustangs, keeping his hands inside and using his strength to take a pitch he was beat by and still send it into the outfield.

Colin Summerhill C / OF / Loyola Academy, IL / 2020

7/26/19 - Ripped a double to left field - 92 mph off the bat - and also collected another single during Top Tier’s win on Friday. Athletic 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame, showed above-average arm strength behind the plate.

Kevin Okins C / OF / First Assembly Christian School, TN / 2020

7/26/19 - Strong bodied medium framed backstop with significant bat-speed. Drove a ball deep off the LF wall.  Looked the part behind the dish with enough arm.

Alex Hewitt C / OF / Hamilton Heights, IN / 2020

7/25/19 - A catcher/outfielder for the Mustangs put together a display at the plate on this day. In the early innings, he took a pitch deep over the left-field wall for a home run, and later he took a pitch for a ride to deep left-centre, just falling short of getting out. It’s a physical frame which works compact and short to the baseball, he looks to get his bat head out front and let his strength take over.

Hayden Duffield C / River Ridge, GA / 2020

7/26/19 - Put together another strand of impressive at bats today. Short and simple swing that has shown gap to gap ability. Patient hitter with a solid approach and doesn’t deviate from it often. 6-foot-1, 170-pound frame showing there’s room left to grow into.

Blake Friends C / Winder-Barrow , GA / 2020

7/27/19 - Proved to be a catching prospect well worth keeping an eye on in the future. Impressive performance on both sides of the ball starting off by gunning a runner down behind the plate (2.15 pop time). Very solid receiver and blocker behind the plate that really helped his pitching staff control the running game. Brings a really good approach to the plate working counts deep, and displayed gap-to-gap abilities. Athletically built at 5’9 150 pounds there’s a lot of room to grow moving forward for Friends.
