Fort Worth Preseason ID: Preview Story

PBR Texas Staff

On Monday, January 17th the PBR Texas staff will head to Weatherford College, to host the third event on our 2022 calendar - the Fort Worth Preseason ID. This open event allows our staff an opportunity to get a look at prospects and the gains they have made during the offseason. The Preseason ID series also serves as an opportunity to earn consideration for the 2022 Future Games, receive invites to future invite-only events and get on follow lists for our state-wide scouting staff.

ROSTER PREVIEW

We’re eager to get an up-to-date look at the  players set to workout at Weatherford on Monday, including several brand new faces to our scouting staff. Combing through the current roster, here are a few quick nuggets on some names that stand out:

+ 2025 Luke Billings - The #1 ranked player in the state should thrive in this setting. Billings has P5 potential in the field and on the mound.  The Future Games Participant has been in the upper 80’s on the mound and flashed a solid Breaking Ball and advanced change up for his age.  At the plate, the RHH has good rhythm and some serious intent with every swing.  When he isn’t on the mound, he excels behind the plate, but also plays the outfield well also.

+ 2023 Ethan Mendoza - The RHH Middle Infielder plays the game with great feel and seems to always be doing something to help his team win.  The Futures Game Participant is a 7.0 runner but his speed plays  up because of his instincts.  In the field he has the arm to stay at shortstop long term and his glovework is always fun to watch. At the plate, Mendoza has plus bat speed in the box.  He is always looking to drive the baseball and gets the most out of his frame.

+ 2024 Colton Roquemore - The LHH middle infielder has a lot of bounce to his game.  Already a 6.8 runner, the athleticism is evident in all facets of his game.  In the field, he has the ability to play either Middle Infield Position, and the arm strength to play 3rd if need be.  At the plate, he has a simple, compact stroke and drives the ball all over the field.  He should grow into some power as the sophomore gets stronger.

+ 2023 Dylan Schlaegel - Schlaegel continues the trend of another high end athlete that will be in attendance on Monday.  The Jr. Outfielder is a 6.6 runner and it shows in game when watching. He has the potential to stick in Centerfield at the next level.  In the box, he has shown some power and with his speed he can affect the game in a variety of ways.

+ 2024 Zeke Seoane - Seoane has a lot to like about his game.  He is a switch hitting catcher, who also has soft hands in the infield.  At the plate, the RH swing is compact and shows the ability to drive the ball to all parts of the field. From the Left Side, it is more geared for power and is looking to pull the ball more.  He has shown consistent pop times in the 2.0-2.05 range and does it with sound mechanics and good arm strength that will continue to get better.
