Prep Baseball Report Oklahoma hosted its first event of the summer at beautiful L.Dale Mitchell Stadium on the campus of OU. This event hosted nearly 80 of the top 2020 and 2019 graduates from around the state for a pro showcase followed by games. These talented underclassmen showed their skills in front of coaches from every level of college baseball as well as the PBR OK staff. 

All of the video, stats, and pictures from the event have been posted on each individual player's profiles. Over the next week and a half, we will be taking an in-depth look at each player from the event position by position.Though a few these 2020 grads listed below are two-way players, they will be covered here as RHP's. Each player's full profile can be viewed by clicking on their picture.

Player Analysis Header

Will Aiken 3B / 1B / Oklahoma Christian School , OK / 2020

A 5-foot-9, 165-pound proportional frame. Works from an average tempo delivery with a high leg kick and some rhythm. Fastball shows cut especially glove side, 76-77 mph. Slider has 10/4 shape, short, flashed depth, 66-67 mph. Changeup showed sink in warm ups. In the game, had some trouble repeating his release point at times, swings and misses on the glove side fastball and slider. 

Price Allman RHP / SS / Metro Christian Academy , OK / 2020

A loose bodied 5-foot-11, 155-pound frame with plenty of room to add size and strength. Works from an average tempo delivery that he repeated well with rhythm, controlled down the mound, short arm stroke, and a high-3/4 slot with some arm speed out front. Fastball got on hitters quickly at 78-80 mph. Curveball was consistent and effective with 11/5 shape, some depth, 66-67 mph. In the game, used his curveball to retire batters.

Jace Edelen RHP / SS / Arapaho-Butler, OK / 2020

A slender 6-foot-3, 165-pound frame with long limbs and lots of room to add size and strength. Works from an average tempo delivery with very little effort, a loose full arm circle and 3/4 slot. Fastball sits 75-77 with consistent arm-side run. Breaking ball ranged 60-63 mph with 11/5 shape and rolling action. Changeup shows some fade, 65-66 mph. In the game, had two quick and scoreless innings, throwing majority of strikes. 

Zachary Escovedo SS / RHP / Edmond Memorial , OK / 2020

A developing 5-foot-8, 150-pound frame. Works from  an athletic delivery with rhythm. Uses two arm slots, a side-arm slot and a high-3/4 slot, shows an advanced feel, able to repeat and command from both. Fastball sits 77-79 mph and touches 80 from the higher slot, 74-77 from the side with sink. Slider, only from the low slot, shows 10/4 shape and sweeping action, backs up occasionally. Curveball, from the high slot, shows consistent rolling action and depth. Both pitches 62-63 mph. Throws the changeup from both slots, some sink from below, 60-61 mph. In the game, threw strikes and challenged hitters.

Trace Evans 2B / 3B / Edmond Memorial, OK / 2020

A 5-foot-9, 155-pound lean and developing frame. Works from a deliberate delivery with a high leg kick. Uses a short arm stroke coming through a high-3/4 slot. Fastball keeps its plane, 79-82 mph. Curveball shows 12/6 shape with rolling shape, 60-63 mph. Showed a developing changeup in warm ups. In the game was down in the zone with both pitches, throwing mostly strikes. 

Scout Huggins RHP / OF / Edison Prep, OK / 2020

A physically advanced 6-foot-5, 215-pound frame. Works from an average tempo delivery with some rhythm getting down the mound very well. Arm makes a slight stab down and behind Huggins before a quick change of direction, coming through a high-3/4 slot. Fastball sits 79-82 with heavy and late run and sink. Curveball is still developing, 11/5 shape, 70-71 mph. In the game, had some trouble repeating his release point, but is definitely a prospect to follow.

Ty Humphers SS / RHP / Stonewall , OK / 2020

A developing 5-foot-9, 145-pound lean frame with room to add size and strength. Works from an average tempo delivery that he repeated well. Clean arm circle that gets high above his head coming through a high-3/4 slot. Throws from behind the baseball. Fastball sits 77-78 mph with some arm-side run at times. Curveball shows 11/5 shape with consistent depth that could likely turn into a slider as he increases his arm strength. In the game, controlled the fastball in the zone, challenging hitters.

Colby Jarnagin 3B / RHP / Enid , OK / 2020

A 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame with some strength throughout. Works from a controlled and repeatable delivery with a full arm circle coming through a 3/4 slot. Fastball ranges 77-79 mph. Slider shows 10/4 shape with some depth, 63-65 mph. Filled up the strike zone in the game.   

Major Kerr 2B / SS / Edmond Memorial, OK / 2020

A developing 5-foot-8, 135-pound frame. Works from a controlled delivery with a high leg kick, clean arm circle, high-3/4 slot. Fastball flashes cut at 75-78 mph. Curveball has 12/6 shape with  rolling action, 65-70 mph. In the game, was quick and efficient, filled up the strike zone. 

Ethan Manek RHP / OF / Oklahoma Christian School, OK / 2020

A developing 5-foot-7, 150-pound frame. Works from a deliberate delivery with a short and quick arm stroke, pushes the ball, and shows a violent finish. Fastball keeps its plane at 69-71 mph. Curveball is still developing, 11/5 shape, 54-55 mph.

Trevor Martin RHP / 3B / Asher, OK / 2020

A physically advanced 6-foot-4, 195-pound frame with some strength. Works from an abbreviated, controlled, and rhythmic delivery with a high leg kick that he repeats well. Arm circle is moderate and smooth coming through a high-3/4 slot with quickness out front. Fastball shows some downhill tilt, sitting 84-86 mph, mostly 86’s. The breaking ball shows 11/5 curveball shape, but flashes late slider action at times. Showed a changeup that had slight fade in warm-ups at 76-79 mph. In the game, showed above average command with the fastball, retiring six of the seven batters he faced. 

Josh McNeil RHP / 3B / Minco, OK / 2020

A lean 6-foot, 160-pound frame with room to add size and strength. Works from an average tempo delivery with a short arm stroke coming through a 3/4 slot. Fastball sits 74-77 mph with some life. Slider shows 11/5 shape 70-71 mph, occasional depth. Changeup has fade at 64-65 mph. In game, showed developing command.  

Charles O'Dell RHP / Fort Towson , OK / 2020

A physically advanced 6-foot-3, 195-pound muscular frame with broad shoulders. Works from a smooth, average tempo delivery that he repeats well. Uses a full arm circle, some stiffness on its way through a 3/4 slot. Fastball has some late life at 80-83 mph. Curveball shows 11/5 shape and consistent depth, less arm speed. Split-finger has short, but consistent downward action, 74-77 mph. In the game, showed above average command with all three pitches, giving up no hard contact. Was very sharp early, tired a bit in his second inning of work.

Jacob Wiggins OF / RHP / Oklahoma Christian School, OK / 2020

A slender 6-foot, 130-pound frame with long legs and plenty of room to add size and strength. Worked solely from the stretch with a high leg kick and long arm action. Currently, only uses a fastball that keeps its plane at 72-73 mph. 

Caden Storts RHP / SS / Piedmont, OK / 2020

A 5-foot-9, 170- pound developing frame. Works from an average tempo delivery, short leg kick, quick arm circle, and an over-the-top slot. Fastball keeps its plane at 74-76 mph. Curveball is still developing, 66-67 mph. In the game, challenged most hitters.

Brendan Tomlinson 3B / RHP / Choctaw , OK / 2020

A 6-foot-1, 160-pound lean frame with long limbs. Works from a slightly up-tempo delivery with rhythm and repeatability. Hand hooks behind him at the bottom of his arm stroke before a quick change of direction. Uses a 3/4 slot and shows arm speed. Fastball sits 76-77 with occasional arm-side run. Curveball shows some tight spin and depth with 11/5 shape, 67-68 mph. In the game, showed well above average command with both pitches, working his fastball to both sides of the dish effectively.
