McHenry Future Prospects Showcase: Statistical Analysis

By Drew Locascio
Illinois Scouting Director

The McHenry Future Prospects Showcase & Educational Camp for the 2025 and 2026 graduating classes took place on Sunday, January 31st at Pro Player Academy in McHenry, IL. Over 50 prospects participated in a pro-style workout in front of the PBR Illinois Scouting Staff. Today, we start the event analysis with a breakdown of the statistical leaders and a look at a few noteworthy prospects.

The future is bright in Northern Illinois as a number of 2025 and 2026 prospects will be ones to watch as they enter high school. Arguably the top follow from the event was INF/C Peter Visconti (Warren, 2025). Visconti has a 5-foot-9, 168-pound, physical build for his age and advanced actions all over the field. Defensively, it remains to be seen where he will end up, as he showed equally as well behind the plate as he did on the infield. Behind the plate, his arm plays at 77 mph with carry and a low pop time of 2.03. On the infield he has athletic, confident actions with soft hands and plays with body control on the move. At the plate, the right-handed hitter has a fast bat and creates above-average jump off the barrel with ease. One of the top 2025s we have seen-to-date.

Another 2025 INF/C to keep tabs on should be Ty Heimbuch (St. Charles North). Like the aforementioned Visconti, the 5-foot-6, 115-pound, Heimbuch showed well at both defensive spots. Heimbuch has advanced defensive actions for his age, especially on the infield where he plays with bounce, quick/clean footwork, soft hands and a quick/smooth glove-to-hand release. He also displayed impressive body control on the move with the ability to throw from multiple angles in rhythm and with minimal effort. Has a chance to be a high-level middle infield defender as his arm strength continues to tick up as he gets older. Offensively, he has an athletic right-handed swing with loose hands, uses the whole field and gets extension through contact.

Left-handed hitting infielder, T.J. Jakubowski (Huntley, 2025) has the look and actions to be a high-follow moving forward. Jakubowski bounces around the diamond and has moxy to all parts of his game. Defensively, he plays fast and under control, moving with athleticism and ease, especially to his glove side. The hands play soft and quiet with a smooth release. Offensively, he has loose hands, an efficient path, stays on top of the baseball and sprays balls to all fields.

One of the more physical prospects in attendance was 6-foot-2, 185-pound, INF/RHP AJ Putty (McHenry, 2025). Putty, who has the look of a corner infielder, has a presence in the box, starting in an upright, open position and loads his hands in a strong position to hit. It's an aggressive right-handed swing with loose, strong, quick hands and power potential. He also got on the mound and showed off a short, quick arm and the firmest fastball of the day at 79 mph.

Two other 2025 infielders to note were Mason Hirsch (Deerfield) and Aadan Guerrero (Lyons Township). Hirsch has a quiet, confident look in the box and simple, repeatable swing. Hirsch’s bat stays through the zone a long time and he maintains above-average balance through contact. Guerrero, a right-handed hitter, showed a simple, repeatable, balanced right-handed swing and worked the middle of the field.

2025 RHP’s Zachary Readdy (McHenry) and Brady Rosenkranz (Stevenson) had two of the better performances on the mound. Readdy is a 5-foot-9, 185-pound, wide-shouldered, with a loose arm, mid-70’s fastball that showed finish. Rosenkranz listed at a physically-advanced, 6-foot-2, 180-pounds has a long, loose arm action and one of the higher ceilings of anyone in attendance. His fastball topped at 78 mph and he showed the makings of a three-pitch mix.

When looking at the 2026 class, INF/RHP Jason Duy (Minooka) and OF/RHP Tyler Townsend (N/A) were two names to know. Duy has a quick right-handed swing that works with natural lift and pull-side tendencies. On the infield he is a steady defender with sure-hands and a quick release. Townsend, a right-handed hitter, has an advanced frame for his age at 5-foot-8, 140-pounds. He has a quiet overall approach, simple swing and creates leverage to the pull-side of the diamond. Defensively, he plays through the baseball in rhythm with a clean arm that played at 70 mph.

There were a number of others who showed well and will be mentioned in a few weeks when we release the scouting reports from the event in a few weeks.
