INF Jimmy Downs (Kenwood; Northern Illinois commit) continues to swing a heavy barrel from the right-side. Currently ranked No. 55 in the state, the right-handed hitter has some rhythm in his hands before firing through the zone with a slightly downhill path; producing loud results with a max EV of 100.8 mph and max distance of 341’. Proven in-game success in front of our staff.

Verbally committed to Northern Illinois.

CIF Jimmy Downs (Kenwood, 2025) has some of the loudest power in the 2025 class, and put it on display multiple times throughout the event. Downs stands at a strong 5-foot-11, 200-pounds with a thick lower half. The right-handed hitter took arguably the loudest round of BP during the workout session. He uses a simple swing that gets on plane early, reaching a peak exit velocity of 100.6 mph while averaging 92.5 mph. Also showed one of the better arms across the infield, topping at 87 mph. Downs translated his loud workout into gameplay, launching a no-doubt home run during his first game of the event. A physical corner-infielder that produces loud contact almost every time we see him. Currently slotted at No. 39 in the state’s 2025 class.

Hit: RHH. Upright, relaxed setup, leg lift trigger. Quick and direct swing with a slightly uphill path, consistently on the barrel, pull-side power. Finished game play 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs.
Power: 101 max exit velocity, averaged 92.5 mph. 356’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 87 mph. MIF: Compact, 3/4 slot, accurate. 1B: Compact, can change arm slots, accurate, 3/4 slot.
Defense: INF: Plays on balls of feet, works into a crow hop, glove-pat transfer, reliable hands. 1B: Fields ball deep into the body, sure-handed glove-pat transfer, confidence around the bag.

Downs continues to play a big role in the Kenwoods offense, going 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and three RBIs. The home run was his third of the year and 38 RBIs on the season to lead the team. An uncommitted sophomore to watch as he continues to mature his approach at the plate and develop defensively.

Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 34 in the Illinois’ 2025 class. Right-handed hitter with a 5-foot-11, 190-pound, strong, thick build. Flashed advanced bat speed for his age at the plate. Finished 1-for-4 with an RBI. Flew out to left-field in his first at-bat; 6.76 second hang time on the fly ball. Singled to left-field in his second at-bat. Middle of the order presence with some of the better right-handed bat speed we have seen to-date in the class. Defensively, position profile remains to be seen but a right-handed bat to follow.

Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 34 overall in the Illinois’ 2025 class. 5-foot-11, 190-pound, physical right-handed hitting infielder with a strong lower half. Batted fifth in the lineup and played third base. Sets in a simple stance in the box, small leg kick timing trigger, balanced throughout the swing with a level path, strong hands, gap-to-gap approach and showed easy power to the opposite field. During his second at-bat, Downs lined a single off the right field fence. He followed up in his final at-bat of the night with a three run home run to right center field. Downs finished the game going 2-4 with 5 RBIs. 

CIF’s Jimmy Downs (Kenwood, 2025) and AJ Putty (Huntley, 2025) boast similar corner infield, right-handed hitting power potential profiles. Downs stays compact within his 5-foot-11, 190-pound, strong durable frame and has feel for the barrel with natural lift and pull-side tendencies throughout. Downs' impressive round resulted in a T101.4 exit velocity, 92.8 average to go along with a 344’ furthest batted ball. Putty has a 6-foot-4, 210-pound advanced frame with a loose, strong swing and intent to elevate the baseball; T98.3 mph exit velocity, 91.7 average and 353’ peak batted ball distance. Two uncommitted right-handed bats to know in the class.

CIF Jimmy Downs (Kenwood, 2025) continues to show off an advanced right-handed bat with big power potential. Downs put on a show in BP, which was one of the best of the day, using the entire field while showing off consistent, hard, lifted contact. It’s a loud, heavy barrel with loose, strong hands and jump off the bat. Downs registered the hardest hit ball of the day at 100.4 mph off the bat and his furthest batted ball traveled 374’. Defensively the corner infielder has clean footwork, steady hands and a strong accurate arm.  His top velocity across the infield was 83 mph.

Arm: RH. INF - 84 mph. Short arm action, 3/4 slot. Throws play with carry.
Defense: Clean footwork, steady hands, intent through release.
