Today we continue our analysis of the Milwaukee Preseason ID Showcase with with top pitching prospects from the event. 2019 LHP Connor Prielipp takes the top spot. Prielipp showed improvements over the winter sitting 85-86 mph with his fastball and showing feel for his changeup.

Top Prospects

1. Connor Prielipp. LHP, Tomah, 2019
6-foot, 155-pound left-handed pitcher. Made a big jump at the event. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a loose arm action. Tall and fall delivery with easy effort. Works in line with home plate with a square landing and smooth rhythm. Good balance throughout delivery. Fastball has running action at 85-86 mph for strikes. Curveball has 12-6 shape with occasional downer action at 80-82 mph. Changeup has running action for strikes at 79-80 mph, thrown with fastball arm speed.

2. Tommy Lamb, LHP/OF, Grafton, 2020
5-foot-10, 140-pound lanky left-handed hitting LHP/OF. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a loose, quick arm action. Tall and fall delivery with a high front side and easy effort. Works in line with home plate with a square landing, smooth rhythm, and an athletic finish. Good balance throughout delivery. Three pitch feel on the mound. Fastball sat 80-81 topping out at 82 mph. Curveball has 1-7 shape at 64-66 mph. Showed feel for his changeup at 71-73 mph for strikes. One of the top arms in the Wisconsin 2020 Class. Defensively arm plays well in the outfield, easy effort while playing thru the ball. Accurate throws with carry throwing 85 mph. At the plate hits from a balanced, open setup with a leg lift stride back to even. Opposite field line drive hitter. 81 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.47.

3. Trent Ehlers, LHP, Sturgeon Bay, 2019
6-foot-3, 180-pound left-handed pitcher with a lanky frame. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a long, loose arm action. Tall and fall delivery with a closed landing and regular effort. Fastball has sinking action at 82-84 mph. Curveball is his best offering at 67-69 mph, has 12-6 shape with sharp breaking action. Changeup has sinking action at 70-74 mph.

4. Jackson Brown, RHP/3B, Oconomowoc, 2018
6-foot-3, 185-pound right-handed hitting RHP/3B. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long, loose arm action. Tall and fall delivery with easy effort. Works in line with home plate with a square landing and smooth rhythm. Fastball has running action at 84-86 mph for strikes. Curveball has 11-5 shape with soft action at 67-70 mph. Maintains fastball arm speed on changeup with fading action at 70-73 mph for strikes. At the plate hits from an open setup with a toe tap stride and good balance. Line drive hitter with a slightly uphill swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 84 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.60. Defensively has a loose arm action from a high 3.4 slot. Accurate throws with carry across the infield throwing 85 mph. Plays thru the ball with athletic actions and average hands.

5. Drew Leszczynski, OF/RHP, Brookfield Central, 2019
6-foot-1, 170-pound right-handed hitting OF/RHP. Defensively has a long arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Accurate throws with carry throwing 91 mph from the outfield. Plays thru the ball with athletic actions and fluid footwork. At the plate hits from a balanced setup, hands preset back with a short leg lift stride. Short, uphill swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 86 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.09. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long, quick arm action. Tall and fall delivery working in line with home plate. Square landing with some rhythm. Fastball has heavy sinking action at 84-86 topping out at 87 mph. Curveball has 12-6 shape with gradual action at 65-69 mph.

6. Andrew Biertzer, LHP, West Bend West, 2019
6-foot-2, 180-pound left-handed pitcher. Works from an over the top arm angle with a long quick arm action. Tall and fall, online delivery with an uptempo delivery. Currently has a two pitch mix fastball and changeup. Fastball sat 82-84 mph with downhill tilt. Showed some feel for his changeup at 73-75 mph.

7. Trent Turzenski, RHP, Burlington, 2019
6-foot-5, 190-pound right-handed pitcher with a lanky frame. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long arm action. Tall and fall delivery working in line with home plate. Square landing with some rhythm and an athletic finish. Fastball sat 81-82 topping out at 83 mph. Curveball has 11-5 shape with sharp breaking action and depth at 65-69 mph. Changeup has heavy sinking action at 74-76 mph for strikes.

8. Kyle Gendron, RHP, Wilmot, 2018
6-foot-1, 175-pound right-handed pitcher. Works from an over the top arm angle with a long, quick arm action. Tall and fall, online delivery with a square landing. Some rhythm with good balance throughout. Fastball sat 83-84 mph with downhill plane. Curveball has 11-5 shape flashing occasional depth at 65-67 mph. Changeup sat 75-78 mph.

9. Sebastian Kloss, RHP/OF, Whitnall, 2020
5-foot-10, 150-pound right-handed hitting RP/OF. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a short, quick arm action. Tall and fall delivery with a closed landing. Fastball sat 78-80 mph. Curveball is a plus offering with 11-5 shape and sharp breaking action at 64-68 mph. Changeup sat 65-68 mph. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a short stride and good balance. Line drive hitter with fluid rhythm and a fast bat. 77 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.55. Defensively has a short, loose arm action from an over the top slot. Plays thru the ball, threw 81 mph from the outfield.

10. George Klassen, INF/RHP, Port Washington, 2020
5-foot-10, 140-pound two-way player, wiry projectable frame, broad shoulders can carry plenty of additional strength. On the mound arm is long and loose with upside, high ¾ slot. Mixes moth four and two seam fastballs, similar actions, two-seam is 80-81 mph, four-seam is 81-83 mph. Changeup is mostly straight, 75-76 mph. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, short tight loading action, short stride, average balance. Showed bat speed, slight pull side approach, hands stay tight and inside the baseball. 77 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively arm plays long and loose across the diamond, 84 mph across. Hands play and shows athleticism. 7.49 runner in the 60.

5-foot-10, 160-pound right-handed pitcher. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a long arm action. Tall and fall delivery working in line with home plate. Some effort to release. Fastball has cutting action at 75-76 mph for strikes. Curveball has 12-6 shape at 63-64 mph for strikes. Changeup has fading action at 67-71 mph.

Chase Bloxdorf, RHP, Union Grove, 2019
6-foot, 145-pound right-handed pitcher. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long, loose arm action. Tall and fall delivery with an open toe landing and smooth rhythm. Three pitch feel on the mound. Fastball flashed sinking action at 75-76 topping out at 77 mph for strikes. Curveball has 12-6 shape at 65-66 mph for strikes. Changeup has sinking action at 69-71 mph.

Mitch Borkovec, 1B/LHP, Muskego, 2019
5-foot-10, 185-pound left-handed hitting two-way player. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, short stride, loads hands back. Opposite field contact with occasional gap to gap. 84 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively arm action is short from a high ¾ slot, 71 mph across the diamond. 7.76 runner in the 60. ARm works similarly on the mound. Fastball sat 68-69 mph, topped at 70 mph. Curveball has 1/7 shape, 61-62 mph. Changeup is 64-67 mph.

John Breske, RHP, Everest, 2018
6-foot, 150-pound right-handed pitcher with a thin, wiry frame. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a long, stiff arm action. Tall and fall delivery with some effort. Fastball was straight at 83-84 mph. Curveball has 12-6 shape at 70-73 mph. Changeup has sinking action at 69-71 mph.

Hunter Clark, RHP/OF, Seymour, 2019
5-foot-11, 160-pound right-handed hitting RHP/OF. Offensively hits from a balanced, slightly open setup, closes off on stride. 76 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.28. Defensively threw 78 mph from the outfield. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long, stiff arm action. Tall and fall delivery with a closed landing and cross fire action. Two pitch mix. Fastball sat 67-70 mph. Changeup has cutting action at 61-65 mph.

Marcus Cline, SS/OF/RHP, Fall Creek, 2019
5-foot-10, 135-pound left-handed hitting utility player. Offensively hits from a spread out, slightly open setup. Short leg lift stride with average balance. Line drive hitter works the middle of the field with fluid rhythm and looseness in the hands. 82 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.23. Defensively has a loose arm action from a high ¾ slot. Plays thru the ball with fluid footwork. Threw 81 mph across the infield. Also took drills in the outfield throwing 83 mph. On the mound works from a ¾ arm angle with a long, loose arm action. Tall and fall delivery with some effort. Fastball has slight sinking action at 72-74 topping out at 76 mph. Curveball has 10-4 shape with depth at 61-64 mph from a slightly lower slot. Changeup has cutting action at 67-69 mph.

Thomas Coffey, RHP/3B, Bradford, 2019
6-foot-2, 168-pound two-way player, lean slender build. On the mound works from a tall and fall delivery, directional and on line, firm arm action from an over the top slot. Fastball sat 72-74 mph, mostly 74 mph. Curveball played at 62-65 mph, backup action, flashed 11/5 plane. Changeup sat 67-69 mph. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, short tap stride. Short path, late opposite field contact. 69 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively arm played at 76 mph across the diamond. 7.50 runner in the 60.

Cade Curtis, LHP, Ashwaubenon, 2017
6-foot, 215-pound left-handed pitcher. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a long arm action. Drop and drive delivery with a high front side working in line with home plate. Square landing with some rhythm. Fastball sat 72-74 topping out at 76 mph. Curveball has 12-6 shape at 61-64 mph thrown for strikes. Changeup sat 64-65 mph.

Nathan Ebersole, MIF/RHP, Whitefish Bay, 2019
5-foot-6, 140-pound two-way player, projects best as a middle infielder. Defensively hands show softness, can play through the baseball with body control. Moves and plays well to both sides, soft backhand. Arm action is short and over the top, 78 mph across, athletic arm action plays well on the move. Offensively hits from a balanced stance, smooth load, quiet, long stride some. Loose hands, line drive middle of the field hitter, short path with bat speed. 78 mph exit velocity from the tee. 7.41 runner in the 60.

Nick Evert, RHP, Franklin, 2019
6-foot-3, 185-pound right-handed pitcher. Works from an over the top arm angle with a long, stiff arm action. Tall and fall delivery working in line with home plate. Fastball sat 77-78 topping out at 79 mph. Curveball has 12-6 to 11-5 shape at 64-69 mph. Changeup has sinking action at 70-73 mph.

Trace Ferreira, OF/RHP, New Berlin West, 2019
5-foot-10, 180-pound right-handed hitting OF/RHP with a strong frame. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a smooth load and short leg lift stride. Pull hitter with fluid rhythm and a fat bat. Showed strength thru contact with 90 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.31. Defensively has a long, loose arm action from an over the top slot. Plays thru the ball with fluid footwork and soft hands. Throws showed carry from the outfield at 87 mph. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short, quick arm action. Cooper Griffiths, 1B/RHP, Westosha Central, 2020
5-foot-11, 170-pound two-way player. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, short stride. Path plays uphill, made spray contact. 83 mph exit velocity from the tee. 7.99 runner in the 60. Defensively arm plays from a ¾ slot, 70 mph across the infield. Arm plays similarly on the mound. Fastball had arm side run, 71-73 mph. Curveball has gradual 11/5 shape, 54-56 mph. Changeup sat 56-57 mph.

Erik Hanschke, RHP/3B, West Bend West, 2018
6-foot-2, 163-pound right-handed hitting RHP/3B. On the mound works from a ¾ arm angle with a long arm action. Rotational, tall and fall delivery with a square landing. Fastball sat 77-79 mph. Throws a curveball and slider, blends as same pitch. Both have sweeping action and same velo, curveball sat 68-70 mph, slider sat 69 mph. Hits from an open stance with a short stride and average balance. Uphill swing path. 72 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.51. Defensively has a short arm action from a ¾ slot. Luke Hansel, RHP/C, Union Grove, 2019
5-foot-11, 180-pound right-handed hitting RHP/C with a strong frame. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a long, loose arm action. Drop and drive, slow paced delivery working in line with home plate. Open toed landing with good balance. Fastball sat 81-82 mph for strikes. Curveball has 11-5 shape with short breaking action at 68-71 mph. Showed feel for his changeup at 71-73 mph for strikes. Offensively hits from a balanced setup with a smooth load and short stride. 6-foot-1, 200-pound right-handed pitcher. Works from an over the top arm angle with a loose arm action. Tall and fall delivery with some effort. Works in line with home plate with a closed toe landing. Fast arm, struggles to command repertoire.  Fastball sat 85-87 mph. Curveball has 12-6 shape at 73-76 mph thrown with fastball arm speed. Changeup has running action at 78-79 mph.

Jack Heiring, LHP/OF, Christian Life, 2020
6-foot-2, 140-pound right-handed hitting left-handed throwing LHP/OF. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short arm action. Tall and fall delivery with a closed landing. Steve Jamroziak, OF/RHP, Muskego, 2019
Committed to Oklahoma shortly following the event. Currently ranked No. 6 in the Wisconsin Class of 2019. 6-foot-3, 180-pound right-handed hitting outfielder with a lanky, athletic frame. Offensively hits from a balanced setup with a short leg lift stride and good balance. Pull hitter with a short level swing path and fluid rhythm. Showed strength thru contact with 91 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.10. Defensively has a loose arm action from a high ¾ slot. Accurate throw with carry throwing 88 mph from the outfield. Plays thru the ball with quick, fluid footwork. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long, quick arm action. Logan Landers, 1B/RHP, Living Word Lutheran, 2021
6-foot-5, 185-pound right-handed two-way player, frame is large and long. Offensively hits from an open stance, short stride, solid balance, uses lower half. Path is level, shows bat speed for age, gap to gap contact. 92 mph exit velocity from the tee. At first base showed natural actions around the bag, clean hands. Arm action is short and loose, 76 mph across. On the mound works from over the top slot. Fastball played with tilt, mostly straight and downhill, 73-75 mph, touched 76 mph. Changeup is firm, sinks, ranged 67-72 mph.

Riley LeTourneau, RHP/1B, Brookfield East, 2019
Advanced frame, 6-foot-3, 210-pound two-way player, strong build. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, short stride slight dive, good balance. Simple strong approach, fast bat, level path, gap to gap type approach. 93 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively showed easy actions and feel around the bag, showed athleticism and plays through the baseball. Arm action is long, high ¾ slot, carried at 84 mph across the diamond. On the mound is a big framed RHP with arm strength, works tall and fall down the hill, long arm action, over the top slot. Fastball has tilt, mostly straight with occasional sink, showed feel for the zone, sat 83 mph. Curveball has 12/6 shape, rolling action at 67-69 mph. Changeup flashed sink, 69-74 mph. 

Arthur Liebau, INF/RHP, Homestead, 2020
6-foot-1, 180-pound two-way player. Right-handed hitter, open stance, short stride. Path is short to the baseball, stays on top, level through contact. 84 mph exity velocity from the tee. 7.40 runner. Defensively profiles as a third base type, playable hands for age. Arm action is long, high ¾ slot, showed arm strength at 78 mph across the diamond. On the mound arm is similar, more over the top slot. Fastball topped at 81 mph, sat 78-80 mph, mostly straight, four seam type. Curveball has 12/6 shape, 64-66 mph. Changeup played at 69-72 mph.

Collin Long, RHP/OF, Union Grove, 2020
6-foot-2, 155-pound right-handed hitting RHP/OF with a thin, lanky frame. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long arm action. Tall and fall delivery working in line with home plate. Square landing with good balance. Fastball sat 71-75 mph. Curveball has 11-5 shape at 58-62 mph for strikes. Changeup sat 67-70 mph. 5-foot-9, 183-pound right-handed pitcher. Works from an over the top arm angle with a short arm action. Tall and fall delivery with some effort. Closed landing, falls to first base after release. Fastball was straight at 76-77 mph. Curveball sat 63-65 mph. Slider has 10-4 shape at 66-68 mph.

Gunner Peterson, OF/RHP, Wilmot, 2018
Illinois State commit. Currently ranked No. 10 in the WI class of 2018. Added more strength to his frame this winter now 6-foot-1, 180-pound left-handed hitting OF/RHP.
