6-foot-2, 206- pound right handed pitcher, lean athletic frame, highly projectable. One of the top arms in the Hitters rotation and showed it in action when he got the start against North Star Navy and came out on top in a pitchers duel. Used a three pitch mix of a fastball, slider, and changeup. Showed confidence in all his pitches and shows the control to throw them all for strikes when he wants to. Fastball sat 84-85 mph and topped out at 86 on the night, slider showed sharp break with 11/5 shape, and was clearly his go to secondary pitch for the night when he needed an out. Griffiths changeup was at 70 mph consistently on the night. On his secondary pitches Griffiths was able to maintain his fastball arm speed to keep hitters for North Star Navy off balance and guessing wrong. Final line: 7IP, 1H, 8K, 2BB.

One of the top uncommitted arms in the state’s 2020 class was sent to the mound against STiKS Black. The 6-foot-2, 206-pound right handed pitcher dominated through six shutout frames. Showed long and loose arm action from a high ¾ slot with explosive arm speed. Fastball played with slight arm side run and sat 83-85 mph, touching 87 mph a small handful of times. Curveball had 11/5 shape with depth at 71-73 mph. Griffiths had an excellent changeup with late sink/fade at 74-77 mph. The uncommitted right-hander showed improved control with a strike percentage of 65%, which could make him an intriguing on-the-market option left in the 2020 class. Final line: CG, 8 H, 2 ER, 4 SO, 1 BB.

5/23/18 - Uncommitted sophomore. 6-foot-2, 195-pound two-way player, strong athletic build. Best upside may be on the mound. Delivery is raw, slight effort, recoil finish at times. Plus arm strength for his age, action is loose and live high ¾ slot. Fastball played with slight arm side run, sat 85-86 mph, touching multiple 87’s in first inning. Decels on curveball, soft at 65-69 mph, has depth and was able to get swing and misses in the dirt, lacked control. Shows rawness on the mound, pitchability not present yet, projects for more fastball velo. Third base defender, easy poised actions, hands showed softness. Above average arm showed carry. Right-handed hitter, five-hole, athletic swing, above average bat strength, showed pitch recognition.

2/25/18 - 6-foot-2, 195-pound two-way player, strong athletic build. Progressing quickly on the mound with advanced arm strength. Delivery is tall and lets it fall, shows some rhythm and stays on line with tall recoil finish. Arm action is clean and loose, occasional effort, works quickly from a high ¾ slot. Fastball works downhill, slight sink, showed feel for zone, worked 82-84 mph. Curveball flashed sharp action on 11/5 plane, has feel for zone, 63-68 mph. Changeup fades to arm side, 66-70 mph. Defensively projects at a corner, infield actions are average, shows feel at first base around the bag. Arm actio is long, 82 mph across. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, short stride. Bat strength swing, made hard contact through a level path, pull side approach. 89 mph exit velocity from the tee. 7.53 runner in the 60.

2/26/17 - 5-foot-11, 170-pound two-way player. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, short stride. Path plays uphill, made spray contact. 83 mph exit velocity from the tee. 7.99 runner in the 60. Defensively arm plays from a ¾ slot, 70 mph across the infield. Arm plays similarly on the mound. Fastball had arm side run, 71-73 mph. Curveball has gradual 11/5 shape, 54-56 mph. Changeup sat 56-57 mph.
