Unsigned Senior Spotlight: Carl Valk

Carl Valk

Carl Valk

Graduating Class: 2017

Position: OF

School: Appleton North

Height: 5-11

Weight: 150

The Outlook: Valk is an upside switch-hitting outfielder. Still a young looking frame, Valk has all the actions and continues to get bigger and stronger. His bat has shown to play equally from both side and a savvy defender that runs precise routes and can handle center field. Give him a year in a college weight room and you could see big things from this switch-hitting outfielder.

Scouting Report: 6/16/16 - 5-foot-11, 150-pound, switch-hitting outfielder with a lanky frame. Defensively has a long arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Accurate throws flashed some carry throwing 84 mph from the outfield. Fluid, athletic actions in the outfield with a clean exchange and soft hands. From the left side, hits from a balanced setup with a smooth load and short leg lift stride. Short, level swing path, showed strength thru contact with 83 mph exit velocity from a tee. From the right side has a toe tap stride and short swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 86 mph exit velocity. Ran the 60 at 7.14.
