The Western PA College Prospect Showcase took place on June 30 with a total of 76 players displaying their talents for PBR staff and a dozen colleges in attendance. Of those on the roster just three hailed from West Virginia.
Morgantown High School RHP/3B Josh Stegmaier made the trip north to Seton Hill University and showed well in all facets of the game. The 5-foot-11. 185-pound Class of 2016 righty sat 78-80 while topping at 84 mph from a high 3/4 arm slot. Stegmaier also flashed a 67 mph curveball with 10/4 rotation and a slider that sat 70-71.
The uncommitted senior-to-be starts his right-handed swing from a square stance with a high hands load. A heel raise with no stride initiates his swing and quick hands create a bat exit velocity of 85 mph. Stegmaier ran a 7.59 60-yard dash and showcased a 79 mph arm across the diamond. Stegmaier displayed a soft glove hand, active feet and the ability to play through the baseball from third base.
The uncommitted senior-to-be hit .333 as a junior with 20 RBI and 23 runs scored. Stegmaier also flashed developing power potential with eight doubles, two triples and two home runs among his 28 hits.
