Kokotailo has stood out with some of the best arm strength in Canada’s 2025 class for a while now but has really seemed to take the next step in his development as a pitcher over the past summer where he’s blossomed into one of the top 2025 MLB Draft arms on the West Coast. Prototypical pitcher frame at 6-foot-3, 190-pounds with a long, quick arm swing and filled up the zone during the fall where he impressed at the Blue Jays Canadian Futures Showcase and with the Canadian Junior National Team. The fastball sat 90-93mph in September at the Rogers Centre, paired with his sweeping slider at 81-83mph. Kokotailo has some college interest and shouldn’t be uncommitted much longer with the pedigree he’s able to bring.

Kokotailo was another player to flash his two-way abilities this past week and has really trended upwards on the mound since we had him at the Junior Future Games in 2022. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound right-hander came out of the gate sitting 88-91mph with the fastball before settling in at 86-89mph along with a slider at 80-83mph with cutter-action. Kokotailo was one of the stronger players in attendance and it showed throughout BP with a peak exit velocity of 94.7mph (wood bat) and average of 85mph. Lots to like here and the quick arm/easy velocity is the main attraction right now.

Kokotailo had a good showing leading the Tritons in every category. Kokotailo has a large frame and long limbs standing at 6-fot-3, 185-pounds. Kokotailo uses his frame throughout his delivery, driving down the mound and getting solid extension at release. Kokotailo fills the zone with a FB at 86-87 MPH with an effortless and repeatable delivery. Kokotailo flipped in a SL in his bullpen that sat 73-74 MPH. Defensively Kokotailo showed clean footwork on the OF highlighted by his arm which got up to 86 MPH. At the dish Kokotailo has a short, but jerky swing leading to pull side contact and power. Kokotailo does a good job getting his hands to the ball allowing him to drive line drives to the pull side at up to 99 MPH. Kokotailo rounded out the day showing off his athleticism with a 6.55 second 60-yard dash. Kokotailo is a young player with multiple tools worth watching as he refines his talents

Kokotailo showed an aggressive swing and demeanour at the plate. He wants to hit; however, his rhythm stops in his load leading to pushing of the barrel. He still managed to have the top EV among 2025 players that showcased at 76 MPH. Kokotailo uses his lower half well and lands in a balanced position in his stride, and with adjustments to his load, he will see upticks in his consistency and barrel control. Defensively, Kokotailo tends to stop his feet and wait on the ball, leading to a lack of rhythm and a drop of seven MPH from his mound velocity to his positional arm strength. He showed athleticism in his 60-yard time, among the top of the bantam group at 7.45. With a short-arm delivery and unstable plant leg in his pitching motion, Kokotailo was among the top of the bantam group in mound velocity, topping out at 73 MPH. Plenty of room to gain velocity as he gets older and fine-tunes his mechanics.
