The reactive strength index measurement of an athlete's explosiveness by comparing their jump height to the ground contact time in between their jumps. On a scale of 0-5.
Vertical Jump
A measure of any athlete's body strength and reach calculated from the flight time divided by the contact time.
Event: California State Games Body: 6-3, 165-pounds. Long lanky body, angular, physically projectable. Delivery: Calm and relaxed, outstanding body control, high lift over rubber, starts on 3B side but understands how to wander on rubber to create angles with his low slot, stable front side with leverage against lead leg, cross-body stride, deceptiveness is something he aims to create and it works, able to make adjustments during his outing, understands his delivery. Arm Action: Maintains same release height on FB/CHG which were the two pitches he featured at the event, loose arm, low slot, understands how to create angles with sidearm slot, compact on backside, hides ball, timing of the separation is a key as he can get under ball when he’s late. FB: T84.4, 80-84 mph velo range. 2087 max spin (1861 avg); big run, late comeback action on the glove side when inside to RHH, can run it hard off the plate while starting in the zone. CH: 75-78 mph, 1768 avg spin; can float and dive.
6/21/22
Body: 6-3, 165-pounds. 6'3 165lb frame. Long, lanky, and projectable build. Plenty of room for added lean mass. Hit: Open stance, quick launch to the swing initiated by toe tap and leg lift. Hands move downward and slot into position. Gains some ground on weight shift. Hands work in and out of the zone semi quickly. Power: Current gap to gap power, peak bat speed of 67 mph and exit velocity of 86 mph. Force production will come with added mass to the frame. Arm: Arm action varied at 1B. Naturally a longer arm path that sill gets up on time. Showed the ability to shorten it for quicker throws to 2B. Also was able to throw from multiple angles. Peak of 83 MPH across the diamond. Defense: Performed well during the defensive workout at 1B. Fielded balls cleanly with solid transfer + throws. Received well and had a feel for being around the bag. Footwork can improve at times.
Delivery: Interesting look, cross fire delivery with lots of moving parts. Repeated well and was able to land everything for strikes. Holds the ground and back leg surprisingly well for how east/west the delivery is. Unwinds cleanly. Arm Action: LH. Semi long arm action, gets up on time however by the time front foot hits. Lower slot and more of an east/west look creating run/sweep. Repeated decently well. FB: 81-83; sinker profile with 17" horizontal movement and only 9" vertical. 4'4 release height aids in deception. Pitch performs well down in zone. SL: 70-71; more cutter profile, 12" vertical break with slight glove side movement at 1" horitonzal. Performs well down in zone. CH: 74-76; Avg 9" vertical break and 7" horizontal. Similar vertical break to FB means this pitch is relying mainly on velocity to miss bats.
