Caught the first game showing some advanced skills behind the plate. Had no problem blocking balls laterally to both sides and flashed a very strong arm as well. At the plate has a narrow set up with a high leg kick that generates some barrel speed through the zone. Almost went deep to left in his second at bat after being hit by a pitch in the first.

Uncommitted. Arroyo was one of the standouts on day 1. Sits on a medium sized durable, muscular frame. Defensively he shows strong wrists, above average framing and blocking skills. Is a hunter with a 60 arm tool that will back pick at will and shut down the running game at any level. Exhibited pop times in 1.8 – 1.9 range with good foot work, clean transfers, and quick release from glove to hand. All throws had carry and were online. Arroyo showed the ability to square the ball up consistently in his BP rounds. I think if he can refine some things at plate and make some minor adjustments, he will be a top catching recruit going into his senior year.

SoCal Preseason All-State - 5-foot-10, 170 pounds, big athletic build with some projection remaining in his frame. Batting from the right side, Arroyo showcases a nice line drive swing. In his BP round, Arroyo hit the ball hard with present gap to gap power. Has quick hands to go along with good bat speed projecting added power. Defensively, he was very impressive, showed of his very strong arm. Arroyo's receiving skills were also on display with quiet soft hands behind the dish. Arroyo is physically mature with good bat, to go along with great defense, very intriguing prospect.

SoCal Preseason All-State Quick Hits - Arroyo continues to impress with his defense, but it's his bat that has taken a big step forward. Arroyo was peppering the gaps with line drives during BP before showing off his big arm behind the plate during the defensive portion of the workout. But it was when he was catching pitchers that his receiving skills really stood out. Showed a quiet/still body with soft hands and excellent anticipation often beating the ball to the spot.
