6/12/18 - 6-foot-2 178-pound physical athlete with high waist and long legs and arms. Ortiz is an athletic middle infielder who shows good footwork in the infield to go with a strong, accurate arm. Throws had carry across the diamond at 84 mph. Could slide over to third base and really excel. Shows quick feet and range while working at shortstop. Attacks balls aggressively and with excellent body control and in position to make accurate throws with clean exchanges. At the plate Ortiz's current strength comes into plays as he peppered the gaps with line drives during his BP round. Shows fast hands from an open stance and makes solid, consistent contact with the barrel from a slight uppercut barrel path. Drops back shoulder at times causing him to pop the ball in the air. Has current power that projects for future over-the-fence power when he's done maturing physically. Ortiz is a true junior with a July 2002 birthdate and carries a 3.5 GPA.
